Sterling and Andrea H -- I love both of your strategies for avoiding the shopping urge. Smart ladies!

Runcarla -- I also tend to wrap myself in dark neutrals when I am sad or stressed. I find them to be comforting. But you are right that inserting even just a pop of color can go a long way in lifting one's spirits. Glad you were able to practice a little self care this week. Like you and Sterling, I went for a haircut on Friday and even added some bright magenta highlights. It really perked me up.

Runcarla and Sterling -- I have been wearing a safety pin on my jacket since UmmLila mentioned the solidarity movement on an earlier Off-Topic thread a couple days ago. I added a heart to my pin today. Sterling - Love your idea of a safety pin necklace. The addition of pearls would have significance. From an article I just read (The Meaning and Myths of Pearls): "Pearls symbolize wisdom acquired through experience. They are believed to attract wealth and luck as well as offer protection. Known for their calming effect, pearls can balance one's karma, strengthen relationships, and keep children safe. The pearl is also said to symbolize the purity, generosity, integrity, and loyalty of its wearer." Here is a link to that article: https://bellatory.com/fashion-.....pearl-myth

Your pin is gorgeous. What a great idea! The picture below shows what I have in mind.

I love the information about the significance of pearls is fascinating to me. I have always loved them. If they can balance my karma, that would be an extra bonus.

Sterling -- That is a really lovely necklace. And it should be a fairly easy DIY project. I will definitely be looking forward to seeing what you create.

I am mostly observing here, although trying to elevate my everyday style still with jewelry and makeup. It is working although my latest haircut is not sitting as well as the past three or four versions which is a little frustrating!!

The weather here has not been reliable either - usually by mid November it is warmer. I am not wanting to wear sandals yet as it feels too chilly.

I like the shopping strategies for those who are trying to be focused, and I like the intent to wear colour.

El Cee I hope you are feeling better - I like your non black outfit.

Kiwigal/Sally -- I just heard about the earthquakes and hope that you and your family are safe. You and your fellow New Zealanders are in my prayers.
