Donna, DO NOT BUY:
Anything DCO; you won't wear it because it's too *precious*
Footwear with heels above 1.75" or maybe even 1.5"; that right big toe will just get worse.
Blazers and coats because they are a little too dressy and warm for your casual lifestyle and are more aspirational than anything else.
Anything with a strictly corporate work wear vibe; you will be working four more years at most and you generally work one day per week. Do the math; you have enough.
HOT weather clothing, such as sleeveless tops and dresses and sandals -- unless you plan out of town travel for a period of time. You have plenty for at most ten days per year of really hot weather.
Tall boots. Let's see if you wear the pair you own, first.
Drapey dresses, blouses, and skirts: They have NEVER looked good on you or felt quite right, even when you were in your 20s. Why should they now, 40 years later?
Wool/cashmere, angora, or mohair sweaters. Moths/other pests have found your wool/cashmere within a single season, and angora and mohair itch and bother your nose. You are lucky to live in a mild climate.
Socks, tights, bras: You stocked up in the past few years.
The list above is the easy stuff, and I am pretty good about adhering to it. The bigger issue is whether I need to stop buying in a few other categories such as toppers, casual dresses, and jeans. Maybe simply asking should be a signal to me.
