Possibly stupid thrift outing

I was forced, yes FORCED to go thrift shopping because I spent hours waiting for a car repair and the Goodwill was right there. It was a wonderland of great finds (like decent quality cashmere sweaters for $5) that were nowhere close to my size or otherwise unsuitable. Then I had to make snap decisions at the last second when we heard the car was ready, so I came home with …
1. Effie’s Heart top that I didn’t even attempt to try on because I have several dresses from this brand in the same size … but maybe it is a bit tight? Ehh.
2. Talbots cotton sweater that is not so much my style but a college-age girl volunteered that she thought it looked nice on me.
3. Nic + Zoe sweater that is more my style but we’ll see.
4. Fancy Royal Worcester baking dish, partner was entranced by this lol.
5. Did NOT buy this Theory jacket that I decided was more corporate than cool and someone else (perhaps fortunately) grabbed it before I could change my mind, so I hope whoever it was enjoys wearing it.
Oh well. Total outlay under $14 (including the dish) and more fun than new tires.

Thanks for the fun thrift report which made me laugh. I do like the green sweater - the college girls are always right. Good pass on the black zipper jacket. Fun baking dish. ETA be sure to use it next time you make a corn apple casserole.

The first top matches well with the skirt. As long as it’s comfortable (not pinching anywhere because armholes are too tight or torso too tight) I vote keep.

Green sweater, I like this color on you. It looks like the kind of sweater I’d wear with jeans and a scarf. I’ve seen your outfits often feature skirts, do you have a denim one? Might work well with the casual slouch of the sweater.

Nic and Zoe sweater seems perfectly aligned with your style, I vote keep.

Fun baking dish!

Beautiful theory jacket but I agree it looks more structured than other items I’ve seen you wear. You were wise not to be tempted by the label and price for this one.

Oh I had a brainstorm about the dish! Cornbread stuffing/dressing with apples and chestnuts at Thanksgiving! (Or why wait for Thanksgiving really.)

I like the Theory jacket! If you aren’t physically uncomfortable wearing it zipped up like that when you sit down - I vote consider going back for it. It’s your colour palette, a great structured fit, and a bit of variety from knits. Plenty cool
to my eye!

Aww, thanks, all! Angie, I may have some regrets about leaving the jacket behind but I’m pretty sure it’s been snapped up. At least, when I went back after lunch it wasn’t where I had left it. I suppose I can’t hoard all the things.
I’ve hand washed the blue sweater and stretched it out a tiny bit and now I love it and will be wearing it as soon as it finishes drying!

Sometimes there is simply no choice but to thrift ! Excellent picks and agree that the jacket was not meant to be. But do love the skirt and boots you are wearing at the thrift store.

Oh, thank you, Jaime! Wearing the boots because it was snowing and the (kind of crappy from Target) skirt because it looks decent with the boots. As noted elsewhere, dressing around snow boots is a challenge (but worth it … I love snow).

That swirly blue pattern on the cardigan is both unique and very 'you'! It suits your hair well. The first vest top also looks nice on you, but what's most important is how it *feels* on.

I like the green on you, but also find that style of jumper is not my style because the shallow V neckline feels frumpy (on me personally - not saying it is on you!) I'd wear it with a scarf tied around the neckline to soften it a little, but YMMV.

That Theory jacket looked great on you, & I think the bold zip could dress it down (so it's not overly formal) but if it doesn't feel like it would have fit your lifestyle then it would have been a waste to leave it sitting unworn in your closet. Good on you for sticking to your guns!
