I work and live in two different college towns, so the dominant styles I see are things like leggings or skinny jeans with sports team sweatshirts on the students, and very utilitarian, practical looks on faculty. I would love to be able to walk around Toronto and soak up the street style :)! I do like all of the trends you've shown.
I haven't paid much attention to local fashion lately, but when I was at Stanford Shopping mall a couple of days ago, I noticed that the women wore outfits I'd see here and other online blogs--much more fashionable, especially among older women. (A week day so students still in classes.)
I do want to comment on Angie's photos above: Angie, you look spectacular. I especially love that first outfit--it reminds me of the best of the good old days, yet modern.
I’m completely puzzled as to how you found your illustration pics Irina. Of course it’s not winter here now (although still colder than we like in very late Spring) so I’m not seeing the same kind of thing at all. Pic 1 is probably closest to some I see out and about.
I don’t really wear trends.
I looked at a lot of fall style articles yesterday. Lots of them had “how to wear leggings” or “cozy fall outfits” themes. The leggings with socks and sneakers were included in just about all of them, so I will not be surprised when I see that in real life. In fact, though I’m not a leggings person, it almost inspired me to check out my sock collection for white athletic socks.
I do like the coat in #1! But the outfit says "I went to the gym after work and put my nice coat back on over my gear". Yes- I do this But no white socks for me!
Long scarves w wool coats- maybe. It really hasn't been cold enough for a real coat most days yet.
Big yay from me for long pants- even my "shorter full length" ones are bugging me a bit. They show off my great new boots ...but make me look shorter.
Short puffers- I had one, but the arms got too tight. I'm preferring dressier coats to puffers these days though.
Short puffers and wool coats aren’t warm enough for me. I used to wear wool coats and scarves, but I was made of sterner stuff back then. I’m too wimpy now.
So, since you posted this, I've suddenly noticed at least four dozen kids wearing black leggings and tall white socks and trainers! My eye had not picked it up at all and I probably would have remained oblivious...
