Where are/were the quality control folks? There should be shame about sending out something like that.

That’s so frustrating! Thanks for the reminder. I have encountered similar but nothing as bad as what you describe all in one garment. I frequently see mismatched or crooked seams, unbound seams with threads left untrimmed, serged seams with loose threads have become a too frequent an annoyance, and fabric that looks sumptuous ends up feeling rough and scratchy or is so filmy and sheer that it’s impossible to handle without snagging.

Part of my goals for this year is to do just this. Be pickier about quality, even if I generally like the look of the piece.

Shame about that pretty skirt! Maybe Boden will do a similar one?

Bummer, it's a cute skirt. Good lesson not to expect quality just because the price is high. Love that fuzzy jacket.

I discovered this about cashmere this winter. I bought one cute Vince sweater (which of course is not cheap!) and pills galore after a few wears. The Vince cardigan I bought a few years ago and only wore a handful of times? Coming apart at the seams and I think it was dry cleaned once! It was a $400 cardigan. I now use over pajamas.

This year I discovered Zadig & Voltaire. Styling is impeccable and price is high (but I bought on sale). Have worn them a lot already and NO PILLING.

Similar price points and one is crap and one surpassed all expectations. Crazy. I will not be buying Vince again. I’ve been burned by them too many times. I had started to think all cashmere would pill but now having seen the contrast I will not settle again.

Thanks for the commiserations, examples and stories, ladies. WE have to judge quality for ourselves. It's as simple as that.

Thanks for the kind words about my two new items too! Love them

So frustrating and especially when you are ordering online. I've had my eye on that Boden shirt so I may have to try it after your endorsement. I also just purchased a coat from JCrew that is beautifully made.

This is why I love thrift shopping. So many items get donated that were made before fast-fashion took over the world, and the fabrics and construction were much better.
People also donate designer items, and even if the quality is just mesh, the price makes it a fun buy for an interesting piece. Now, there are some designer items that are so crappy looking that I won't even pay thrift prices for them LOL

Wise words Angie.
