Ohhhh...more blushes.
You know, YLF is SUCH an amazing place.
I went out this evening to a poetry reading. I knew all the readers and most of the people in the audience. And only TWO people said a word about my hair.
Not that they need to be focusing all the time on moi, you understand, but it was a pretty dramatic change...you would think a couple of people might at least notice?!?
But here on YLF, everybody notices. What a great community.
Deborah, I am hugely flattered to be compared to Annie Lenox. It is not the first time someone has suggested a resemblance, but the first time in a long time. Wish I had her voice!
Rae, I think it may have been the slanted bangs that gave my husband a moment's pause...his first remark was..."Well...it's DIFFERENT." But it only took him half an hour to warm up to the cut, which is pretty good for a guy who hates change. I tried a new top on for him (to be shown tomorrow) and he immediately noticed that clothes look better.
And I love it because the bangs can go every which way, including up. Pushed in one direction they give the cut a sort of "mod" feel. Pushed another way they are more like the classic pixie. Pushed up and messed around I guess they'd be a bit punk. And since I'm a huge fan of all those looks, it's a pretty good deal for me.
Jonesy, one of my first remarks to the stylist was: "Yay! I can wear earrings again!" I had saved some of my "statement" earrings from before and will surely acquire a few more. But it's nice that even the tiny ones become more visible. I have some really pretty, tiny studs that just got lost in the hair. They'll work well now if I also want to wear a necklace or scarf.
You know how they always say "If you've worn your hair in the same basic way for the past five years, it's time to change it up." Well...it turns out I should just KEEP wearing my hair in the same basic style (with small updates). I'm taking Una's advice and now I have my signature back.
Thanks, all. You ARE fab.
