This is good to know. Sometimes I feel guilty posting my brand names, because much of it is high end.

I love reading the details in outfit posts! I find it very educational. I think I posted details on my first WIW but stopped mostly because it made for a lot to read since I tend to post my outfits weekly rather than each day. And I'm so glad you asked this question. It's good to know that others here appreciate details, too.

This money thing can be hard. That's why I asked--if I name higher end brands, will anybody feel bad?

I love details in posts, even if it's a $1500 Chloe or Balenciaga bag--I love to look.

Where I work and live I'm aware that I spend more on clothes than most people I know. I think my age and position (and hopefully understated good taste!!!) make this okay. But you see how I think I have to justify myself!

I love hearing from Parsley, nancylee, and velvetychocolate that it's all good. Maybe on this forum it is!

Annagybe and Adelfa, don't be embarrassed about listing sources for your higher end stuff too! High or low, it's all good and I find it fascinating. I don't know much about the higher end designer brands so I love learning about them too, just to get a feel for what kind of clothes different designers make.

Yeah, definitely don't feel "bad" about posting higher end or designer items.

I never buy them, but I love to look! I don't think anyone here would judge you; this is a very accepting group.

Similarly, I don't think anyone would judge a dumpster-diver as long as the pants she retrieved were PPL!

I post the source of my items and always indicate if it's thrifted or not - I thrift a HUGE portion of my wardrobe and accessories and like to illustrate that it is possible to find fabulous things without spending a fortune. I do not however include the dollar value in that information. But I have no issues with anyone else include the dollar value - doesn't bother me in the least!

I really appreciate when someone posts the brand, where she got it and the appx age, so if I fall in love, I know where to check! (store website/ebay)

Yay for the details for me, too. I like it when others do it, so I started doing it, too.

PPL = Perfect Pants Length

FWIW, it makes no difference to me at all. I look at the overall effect of the outfits and take it from there. In fact, because I have to read SO MANY forum threads, I skip large pieces of text with that type of outfit info and prioritize.

That being said, if you would prefer to include this type of information - that's fine too.

Another vote for the details, although I am not entirely hot on stating how much one paid for it.

But taking the time to name the brands or origins of my clothes on WIWs was an eye opener experience for me. I realized how much I prefer some brands over others, and had no idea. It's a good shopping guide.

I like the gory details because I like to be able to search the forum after purchasing an item to see if it has appeared in people's WIWs.

I also like listing the price when it was a good deal! I find it inspiring but maybe others find it obnoxious. I like seeing when people thrifted something, too, because I so admire the patience it requires.

If it seemed like this site was an environment in which people were bragging about status purchases, it would definitely turn me off. But I guess I don't get that vibe-- even from those making high end purchases. It feels like a safe space regardless of size, money, etc.

I actively get frustrated when brand info isn't posted. I love learning more about how to shop. It also gives me a search term if I want to see the item on different body types etc. Even if it's thrifted or vintage, the brand is still useful information (perhaps even historical). I hate it when one blogger I know posts gorgeous outfits and just labels each piece "thrifted". I want all the deets

Oh, and I'm a pain, but I don't want to have to ask for the details either. My feeling is if you haven't posted them, you don't really want to tell me. I know it's an assumption but that's my etiquette!

I like hearing the details so I can become envious of the wonderful thrift/consignment *finds*. I get frustrated because Shannon's Cleo Petites aren't available in the U.S., but no doubt she is more frustrated because Nordstroms and the like aren't in Canada! Also, I think posting sources helps to counter preconceptions about the merchandise of certain stores. All in all, I find it very educational, even if I am never able to afford/justify spending on the higher end stuff. Doesn't bother me a bit.
