That is such wonderful news. But it is so sad to see the pictures of all those people who lost their homes. Such a disaster!

Thanks for checking in, Shabby. Sending my thoughts to everyone in Bay St. Louis.

Glad to hear you and yours are okay. Hope others get back on their feet asap.

I'm glad you and your house and animals are OK.

I am also so relieved. You have been on my mind all week.

Thanks for checking in !

Thanks for letting us know how you are - I'm glad you and your home are ok. Terrible for others though.

Shabby - so glad to learn you are okay and all is well with your home. What a tragedy for so many people.

Shabby, praise God indeed! I am relieved all is well with you and your family. Prayers go out to allwhohave been affected. We are getting vision here of the flooding and detestation. Is your church operating as a crisis centre?

Shabby i'm so happy to hear you were unaffected. Right before i moved from FL. i went through hurricane Wilma which hit us at a 3 or 4 and it was awful and scary.

Needless to say my thoughts and prayers go out to all those who were affected. Not fun at all.

Praise God indeed. Funny that He did not answer the prayers of those in Haiti and the Dominican Republic...

All skepticism aside, I am delighted that you (and your home and chickens!) escaped the hurricane's wrath. You are very lucky, and can breathe a sigh of relief.

Elizabeth - Yes we are praising Him. As for Haiti and the Dominican Republic they are just as vulnerable as we are here in Mississippi. It's part of life near the ocean. We simply dodged a bullet this time. But that doesn't cause me to diminish prayer. Many in our town were not so blessed, which makes it all the more of a miracle in our eyes. I'm sorry you don't see it that way. Perhaps you will consider Katrina, which left our church, 6 miles inland, under 13 ft of water. It decimated our town taking absolutely everything to the dirt, leaving it completely unrecognizable like a war zone. Many, many souls lost their lives in our city during that storm. But God was just as good then as He is now, and I would still say that even if He had allowed us to lose everything this time.

Shabby, I just breathed a huge sigh of relief for you! So glad to hear you're ok and your home was untouched.

My thoughts go out to all who weren't as fortunate. I hope recovery is swift and strong.

SO glad to hear that you are OK! I'm sending my good thoughts to those who were less fortunate. Hugs!

Glad your house and chickens are unscathed, all our positive vibes must have formed a protective bubble around them x

This is the BEST news. Bless you all.

Rejoicing with you, Shabby, and agreeing with you as well!

Sorry, Shabbychick. I should have said nothing. It's just a knee-jerk reaction that I have when there starts to be talk of "It's a miracle!" and "Isn't God marvellous!", when all these people, who are no less deserving than the rest of us, have lost their homes, or worse, their lives. But I have no wish to change your particular beliefs. And I am sincerely happy that you and your loved ones were spared this time around.

I still say it's luck, but that doesn't mean one should not be grateful. We must live our lives in such a way that honours our good fortune and extends a hand to those with less -- on that, I am sure, we agree.

I love nothing more than a good philosophical debate, so by all means PM me if you are in the mood for one.

Elizabeth - I don't believe YLF is the place for a philosphical debate on religion. Obviously, as a Pastor's wife, I am going to praise God. For me, that isn't only when things go well. I know missionaries in the Dominican Republic and in Haiti who still praised God when their countries were destroyed, because life isn't about things. Being a true Christian means that you continue to serve and love God even when things are very bad....like Job in the Bible. And that is all I will say on the matter.

Exactly. That's why I said to PM me if you wish to further discuss it. Debates are fun, but the public fashion/style forum is obviously not the place for it.
