Thanks, Cookie. My mom lives on the NC coast, not right on the water, but close enough! My three siblings and I have been in constant contact with her these last couple of days. She's been through several bad storms, but luckily, no real damage to home. I appreciate your kind thoughts.

Hurricane Isabel in 2003 was the hurricane that was the most disruptive for our area in recent memory. Ten days without power for half the state and trying to have a wedding...yep, that was fun.

DH and I took Tuesday off to drive to my parents' (on the VA coast) to pull our sailboat out of the water and tie everything down. They put in a standby generator after 2003 so they should be fine. We're far enough inland that very little will be felt here.

I'm not near the coast, but SO is right on it in CT. I'm supposed to head up there tomorrow. Last time I went and there was a major storm, I couldn't get back home because although we were fine, all the railroad tracks in Rhode Island were under water and no trains heading south could get through.

We weren't in any danger so I can't complain -- it was just a minor inconvenience.
