thanks everyone. The day continued without any more little "tropical vacations"
Janet~ that was the first thing I started noticing. I'd wake up and my nightgown and sheets would be soaked. I thought I was just using too many blankets... I finally clued in
Sparky- I'll have to try the primrose oil too.

I guess this too shall pass....

Sex change operation ?

Ack, Kim, hang in there. What a pain. I must say, I'm not looking forward to the day when I'm in the middle of a lecture having a hot flash. Ah well, biology students should be able to deal, right?! You look great!

I am so sorry but you are not alone. I was completely through at 41. I thought I was pregnant and the doctor informed me that I had gone thru menopause. I started having hot flashes after that and they have not let up yet. But on the bright side you look fabulous in your blue top. You are so funny tropical vacation. I have not heard that one before.

You look stunning in that combo.

I started the hot flashes when I was about 47. I so know that sudden rush of heat and your make up sliding off you face. I am doing the natural herbal treatments. Primrose oil and a product called Menocool. They don't stop it but they do help a little.

haha Sarah- just tell your students you planned it as an object lesson

You look great in that outfit!

I agree with dianthus - this is the perimenopause. I'm 47 and so far *touches wood* I haven't had any tropical moments, but I've read a lot (I like to be prepared) and it seems sage tea can really help, too.

Kim, I began perimenopause at 45 with horrible night sweats - I would wake up with soaked sheets and not be able to get back to sleep. The insomnia was brutal.

For years, I tried every reasonable and safe herbal and homeopathic method to reduce my symptoms, but low-dose HRT worked best for me...AND sufficient sleep, fun/regular exercise and a good eating plan. I also take fish oil and calcium supplements.

Hang in there, menopause is just a life stage!

To Kim and all the other YLFers going through or who have gone through menopause.

They are NOT hot flashes. YLfers are too cool for that. Therefore, they must be POWER SURGES!!

Julie

Love that Julie! I'm gonna remember that one.
