OT: Hostess gift for your manager?

Hi all! I again apologize for my absence, life has been busy.

I have a quick question that I think you can help me with! I am attending a work dinner party tonight, hosted by the assistant manager of my department, at her home. The invite says to bring "whatever beverage you will be drinking" but what else? I feel like I should bring a little something extra. I'm also working towards growing with the company and of course I'd like to make a good impression.

So, what kind of hostess gift would you bring your manager? I am a total loss here. (It's my first work party actually, very exciting! I have no idea what I'll be wearing!)

I would suggest a bottle of wine or some lovely chocolates. Or perhaps some nice coffee or tea if you know she likes either of those.

If you're bringing wine to drink, you could add a nice wine corker or aerator. If you're bringing coffee, a pretty coffee pot, etc. Some sort of kitchen accessory that coordinates with your beverage is the way that I would go because it doesn't seem like a "reach".

I like the idea of a wine accessory, chocolate, or specialty coffee or tea. I'd keep it kitchen related I think.

I always think home made goodies are nice (biscuits or truffles) if you have the time.

I really like the idea of specialty tea (but then I am a tea drinker) - I got a small box of white tea "pyramids" from Forte teas as a hostess gift that was just beautiful. WIne accessory sounds good, too - maybe something like a pretty wine bottle stopper that does not take up much room?

These are great ideas, thanks! I wasn't planning on bringing an alcoholic beverage, but maybe a bottle of wine and a nice stopper is a good idea. I'm not a big drinker so my original thought was to bring a couple bottles of nice sparkling water, but didn't know what else (I want the gift to coordinate, as Khris said.) So maybe I'll do both... wine and a wine accessory, and the sparkling water...

In a similar situation, I have taken two bottles of wines from a local winery - one a regular red to drink and another a port wine to gift.

I think a nice specialty water or small dessert would be appropriate. I'd stick with something consumable because you might not know her taste and most people have the kitchen items they need.
