Opinions on this black boot for fall/winter

My go-to Rockport boots finally died after 5 years of constant wear and replacing heels (the zipper broke). I really need to replace them. I've been eying black boots in similar shaft heights and came across these, expensive but on sale (the black pair is $195):

Are they UWP enought? Too wild? They are the perfect height and circumference to replace my old ones, and I've decided that even my basics need flair for me to love and use them.

Yay or nay?

They look fine to me and not too wild at all. Are you getting this for AK "spring" and "summer"? XD Or trying to buy ahead for this coming fall?

I don't know about you but i'm really excited for cankle boots this coming fall.

I like them very much, Una. They look like your style and can be worn with pants or skirts. They have lots of attitude and detail but not so much to limit how they can be worn.

Yeep! Nicole, I'm hoping to get away from my usual summer-boot-wearing habits and try out some summer shoe looks. So mostly fall and winter, but of course year round is always a consideration.

They read more steampunk than UWP. I can see it with a full skirt but not sklinnies.

I think I share Ana's opinion. They don't read RATE or UWP but rather retro or steampunk, but there is only one way to find out...

I like them! The heel is very high though... would they be 8 hour shoes for you? They would not be for me...

Hmm, I'm okay with steampunk (a cousin to UWP, sort of?), but I would want them to go with skinnies. I guess there IS only one way to find out...

I am way too practical. I saw them and my first thought was that the leather on the heel would get ruined in the wet when driving. If you don't need to drive in them, then I think they are very interesting and could work well with your style.

I like them, but they look like they fit really close in the calf and ankle. Might be too close for skinnies and socks in winter. Can we see a pic of the old boots?
