Wow, you look sharp! I keep studying the photos to see if the agent from MI9 is lurking in the background, waiting for you to finish taking pictures, so he can hand off the microfilm to you.

I can't decide which color I love more, they look equally fab .

The fit on you is superb! This is your coat, Elle. Colorwise, hmm... hard to say but I'm leaning toward the tan.

I much prefer the tan with the black buttons - but I have a feeling I will be in the minority. The tan makes your lovely face pop. The black - not as much. Which do you prefer, Elle?

Oooh Elle. These are perfect, so so stunning. I vote tan too, more flattering against your skin I think. I also love the contrasting black buttons, and it looks beautiful with your dark hair.

I would pick tan because it is so classic.

I'm not sure if I have an aesthetic preference Angie but I think black is safer for avoiding stains. At this price it scares me getting the tan. I am careful but I read about someone having someone else spill red wine on them.

If you like the tan better, I wouldn't worry about the off chance of something crazy happening to it. Any good drycleaner should be able to take care of stains and Burberry didn't get their reputation by accident. I'm sure the fabric is quite capable of taking a beating and looking good for a long time.

I can understand your concerns. It's also an issue I've thought of when considering pricey items. I can think of the investment and the CPW and enjoyment but sometimes have to think, how would I feel if I spilled my lunch on my super $$ blouse. Difficult questions!

I like the classic tan better, and I wouldn't be overly concerned about stains. My husband wore his Burberry for at least 15 years with only minor staining, all of which was removed by dry cleaning. It still looks as good as new.

It is advised to avoid dry cleaning too often due to it removing the water resistance. This is what concerns me. I just hope it feels ok to wear with everything the way tan does. I see so many more tan ones on pinterest.

Do you have pets? Pet hair color may be a factor. I prefer the tan on you. The black would be more likely to show fading over time and msy look harsh as you get older (but you can add a scarf). Really, you can't go wrong so if you love one more, choose it.

I came home with the tan one today. I also found out the dark one in pics is ink. There is a black one but they didn't have it in the store. I just hope I can keep it clean enough for only annual dry cleaning which is what they recommend. I wont be needing to wear it in LA for a while so I can always switch for ink or black before my trip I guess.

Yew bewdy!
This little treasure will be part of your life for a long, long time.

I thought the dark one looked blue, actually, and was my vote by a hair. Congratulations, though, the tan is lovely and the fit is not to be believed!

Awesome choice! I am such a fan of that classic khaki/tan color for Burberry. So iconic! Superb fit!

(If you still need a black trench later, that's a good one to get in a satiny finish for travel, evening wear, etc.)

YAY!!!!! So excited for you Elle xo

It is quite heavy & will be too hot for Summer rain in NY. What do New Yorkers wear in Spring & Summer when it is hot but raining? It will also be too bulky to pack, have to wear on plane so will have to put it in a dirty container through security at airport. Maybe I should get black. MN Sara I could get a cheaper black one. I can't afford 2 Burberrys but as an LA person, this one is the one intended for travel. We don't get a lot of rain here & we are always in our cars.

I am super practical about some things, and having a black packable trench for travel is one of those things. I would not give up the khaki for that reason.

It's just that some trips I pack really light, and that black trench is my jacket/raincoat, balled up pillow, travel blanket, robe for quick runs to the lobby for morning coffee, etc. It gets spilled on, wadded up, thrown in the wash/hung dry, etc. I wouldn't put a Burberry through those paces - but that's me and my protective nature.

MNsara. I wouldn't give up the Burberry but it is for travel so it needs to be the colour & weight needed for that predominantly. I don't have much need here in LA. Maybe black is more practical for me.

Why don't you try it with some of your travel outfits and see how it looks? Also think about your travel activities... I always end up sitting in subways, on park benches, etc, but you may travel by cab and not need to worry about the grit as much.

Yes Rae I want to be able to sit on benches. Both colours are neutral so I'm not thinking about my outfits. I am thinking about getting dirty. I am also worried that it might be too hot for some situations. It is heavier cotton but it is a light viscose lining, not the heavier cotton check lining of the other one so the warmth might be similar.
