Great idea Rachy. I am a memory person and also have a great memory but I am getting to that age when.......shudder. I have a Pinterest board for purchases that are online but so few of my clothes are online. What does that say! I have tried to use finds on YLF and have been unsuccessful (hangs head in shame). Maybe it is because my laptop is like a tablet. Or because I am so computer advanced. NOT!
I keep written journals and find that is what works best for me. I write with a pen and paper best.

This sounds great Rachy, as someone who has to think to remember her age and longs for simplicity, I may try writing the purchase date on the inside label using one of the clothing markers I use on the girls school uniform!

I did this last year, with a new page each month in a Moleskin journal (I really like the tactile). Item, date, and (yes, Suz) cost; also, whether or not it was on sale. It was really helpful to see how many items I purchased each month and where the money went. Of course, I am now in a no-buy month, so you see where that led me! I'm going to do it again this year, to help manage my own impulses.

This month, as part of my closet remix, I am trying to document in my WIWs the approximate age of each item I am wearing. My suspicion is that my entire wardrobe has turned over in the last couple of years, but it will help to look at each outfit and figure out how it came together. I don't exactly know what I am going to learn -- how much longevity I have? -- but it's a way to keep me engaged and busy while I am not buying in January.

Ok! I am here and reading avidly! You guys have made me think... And I'm grateful. Because I didn't think at all about the how. I don't think I'll be able to recognise any item by a description I write down. This is something that has thwarted me in the past trying to list my clothes.

I wonder if I can do pics. It will take some organsation, labeling and sorting pics into folders for me to find items, which may also thwart me. That's effort. Lol. I don't do effort. I may have to back this up with a laundry pen to the label...
