Off Topic-- enter this art?

I haven't painted in 7 years, but recently got the itch and finished this piece. It isn't perfect and isn't professionally framed. However, today is the last day for entering art in a non-juried members' show at our local art center (350 member artists-- many professionals). So, I guess my question is this-- is the piece worth entering or am I going to embarrass myself? Don't worry, I am not sensitive. They also suggest putting a price on art displayed and I have no idea. I'm a member as a photographer, but have never had the opportunity to show.

Enter! (What do you have to lose? What's the worst that could happen? etc.) Pricing is such a hard thing.

It is not embarrassing, and I do think you should enter! Pricing on art is hard, but I think a good starting point would be to ask yourself, at what price point would you not resent the buyer, given the amount of work you put into the piece?

Okay, I have shown art and currently have a space for others to show so I will say it depends. If you have no idea of the quality of the other items, and you have the free time (and there is no real cost), then maybe go ahead and give it a try. If it's going to cost money to enter or you feel that you do know the quality of the other entries and think they will be really high quality, then maybe don't do it this time and get back to working more before you expend time and energy. To me there is no reason to rush getting art "out there" unless you feel strongly about it yourself. Of course you will likely go to see the show either way and start getting back into the groove. Pricing is hard - if it's not professionally framed, (and depending on the media used and permanence of it) I might say $75-100. Would you be happy selling it for that? If not, maybe wait.

Arizona pueblo? Go ahead and give it a go, unless it costs a lot for some reason. I'd give it a shot at $400. Go lower if you're keen to sell.

I really appreciate all of the compliments on the piece as well as the constructive criticism, esp. texstyle. Meredith is correct, it is a composite of two photos I'd taken in Balcony House on a recent day trip where I was playing tour guide to some friends (I used to work at the park). I wasn't able to enter it because my fuel pump blew and left me stranded on the side of the road on Wed. night. I was able to enter two photo pieces later in the week (different show). I didn't win any categories there either, but it is always fun to get to show and encourages me to keep working and growing as an artist.

Well, I think you should feel very confident in your skill that I immediately recognized the subject! Was the composite one picture of the cliff dwelling and another of the landscape? I like the concept of blending images and I also like the two photos you did end up submitting. Way to put yourself out there!

Actually-- the composite is of the back balcony building and the front one (the painting has a deeper alcove angle than the actual ruin, so the buildings sit at different angles to each other)-- I suppose the landscape would be a third since you can technically see the mountains from the ruin but not at that scale.
