I also got the skinny pants that were on my exception list for half off today. I am SO glad we have exceptions

Since I found this site I know how much of mistakes I had in my closet,so I can't join you because I have to replace soooo much of my wardrobe with better things! But good luck to you on this!

Good deal Tanya!
Thanks Rena- we will enjoy seeing your purchases.

My ban hasn't lasted very long! Now i've started wearing my autumn/ winter clothes i realise i'm missing things, might have to give a ban a go in the next few months when the gaps are filled x

Sometimes that happens Louise- no harm, no foul

I went to Target yesterday and I was a very good girl. I didn't look at the clothes- not even the clearance rack. I did buy another bra and two pair of panties (allowed on my ban and much needed).

Hmm, I might join in although I never say never!. I have gone a little crazy lately (need to do some return/keep posts) which is what happens when you are deprived for awhile! But I really am well set for fall/winter and there is absolutely nothing that I NEED. I'm not much of an online shopper so my tactic would be to just avoid going out shopping. I thought that I would try to focus my time on working out and reading instead of getting a shopping fix every week. Anyway, just as I start thinking this, my husband mentioned going up to Maine for the weekend (and they have the BEST outlets!).

Some of you just crack me up.

I need to ban bans too! I have already crumbled. I bought some slouchy boots at Marshall's. I WUUUUUV them. The only way I can justify them....since they are not on my ban list....is to return some still-tagged items in my closet.

I have been good, but I haven't had much choice. When I get done buying food for my hollow legged children, put gas in the car and pay medical bills- there is nothing left. I was hoping to get some holiday shopping done with my lower grocery bills (Thanks to The Grocery Game!), but no go.

Chewy - juggling the family finances is hard! But seriously, trimming here and there, and being very focused on your spending is really the best for the long run. All those little savings add up over time. So you may not see the results now, but over time, it makes a huge difference.

What this spending ban is doing for me is making me very-very-very fussy about what I am buying. Those tee's I bought last week are not perfect. So back they go. So the hunt continues but I feel good about not just settling for so-so stuff. My new boots, however, have really expanded my options and make things I already have more wearable. That is actually what my new shopping strategy will be...make sure what I get extends the wearability of what I already have. Fill in the holes. Mulitiply my options. Plus, with me returning the duds I recently purchased, money-wise I'm ahead of the game, despite caving on my shopping bad! For me, it seems to be a mindgame I need to do so I don't feel deprived just because I'm not buying stuff.
