New COLORFUL tops: ETA pics - YouLookFab Forum

NYC and Chicago this week: Zara land. It can be dangerous -- as in, I bought a jacket in NY and returned it in Chicago. Ugh! But, it can also be good -- as in, it's an easy place to pick up work tops, which I find the hardest thing to buy. Since I've been wearing more jackets/blazers to moderate, I've been wanting more sleeveless tops to wear under them. I have a few but honestly not enough given my travel schedule. I could use a total of 4 more, and here are two I just bought. Are they keepers?

I am asking for opinions without seeing them on me, I know, but I'm interested in gut reactions. Think about them with pin-straight black or navy skinny pants, with B/W houndstooth check cropped skinnies (big check and small check), or with navy pinstripe full-length trousers. Jackets are gray, black, and navy.

The flounce shirt is in jade green, and the ruffle is a citron/mustardy color.

I like them. They're a lot of girly volume with the ruffles, though, so I think your plan to pair them with skinnies, pinstriped trousers, and simple jackets is a good one.

Though I don't like yellow myself, if that color suits you I think that one would be great under jackets...the ruffle detail would show but there wouldn't be anything to interfere under the jacket.

I love the color of the jade one much more, but how does that collar do under the lapels of a jacket? That one is my favorite just as a top but I wonder if that will be a problem? If not, yay, keep both!

Thumbs up from me. Love the colours and I think your plan for the various bottoms to wear with them should look good. Obviously it would be nice to see them on, but my first impression is fab!

If you can off the yellow, wow, go for it.
Teal looks less special, but still very nice.

I think they will work with the pants.
The colours are terrific; I imagine they will work with your colouring.
Gut reaction is yes.

Colours and silhouettes are both perfect for you. The only thing bothering me about the mustard one is the little peter pan-ish colour . I'd love it more with a banded neckline. Love the jade one - I want it now .

Love the green top! I think you should get it in the nude pink too if that colour works for you. The ruffle top is a great colour. I'm usually not a fan of ruffles but think this'll look great under jackets.

The green is great-- the yellow is very 70s but I don't really see you as "ruffles up to my neck" -- I am trying to picture it with black-- maybe with grey?

I like the green and am less fond of the yellow. I agree that both need a severely tailored jacket.

Love them, Viva. Both of these look great on you (better than the model for sure). They will look great with your skinnies and blazers...and can be worn both at work as well as to go out, when paired with a nice skirt or cute pants.

Thanks everyone! These are a tough length to semi-tuck as they are on the shorter side, so they may be untucked tops -- which is okay with me. (I find the semi-tuck can be difficult to keep neat-looking when I am wandering around a room moderating, so these may actually be better suited to my work.)

I did buy the yellow blindly, and the ruffles and collar made it a big risk (although returnable, so maybe not that big, really) and I am surprised by how much I like it on. It's a bit dandy and precious but could be fun dressed both up and down. The architectural flounce of the green is nice and dramatic. Pretty sure I am keeping both. I appreciate all the input.

It will be interesting to see both of them styled. They're fab on you, and if you need numbers, you need numbers. I have a hunch that, depending on the group you're working with, you need them both: the yellow may broadcast more upbeat and the teal more supportive.

Keeping in mind that I don't like yellow...I love that on you! That one really looks perfect for your intended use. Did you try the teal under a jacket yet? Did the collar get along with the jacket collar?
