I'm saving for a pair of Duo Boots, it is likely to take me three months plus birthday money to save for them. Since saving began (10 days now) a jacket I liked has been further reduced in price and is calling my name, I know I should forget about the jacket but sometimes the instant gratification of a smart bargain can out do all of the logic I can muster...what to do? What do you do? Perhaps I should just shut down the computer?

That seems like a very low price, even for faux fur. The boots look much better quality and will last many seasons. I would stay the course and pass on the jacket. The boots will be greater satisfaction.

Step away from the computer.
Those boots are gorgeous and will be a closet staple for years.
The furry moto jacket could make you look like an Ewok and will likely be one of those trendy items you really like but rarely wear. My two cents, anyway...

How many extra weeks would you have to wait for your boots if you bought the jacket?

How high up on your wish list is the jacket compared with other potential buys? (apart from the boots)

If you buy the jacket will you be able to stay firm afterwards or would this be the thin end of the wedge?

I think you will find plenty of fun, inexpensive fur jackets this season, but a perfect pair of boots can take years to hunt down. Stay the course - maybe go out and do something away from the computer and mall?

that jacket's only 16.00. buy it. if it was me, and I didn't get something I really wanted and it was gone, I'd obssess over it for weeks. better you just buy it and get it over with. besides it's only 16.00 (20 shipped?). can't get much for that these days. even if you don't like it you didn't lose much. like oscar wilde said, the best way to get rid of temptation is to give in to it... (within reason, of course. if the jacket was $1000 I'd tell you to stay away)
and-from a star wars nut- it doesn't remind me of an ewok.

Step away from the computer in order to get boots. Trust that there will be plenty of discounted faux fur this year!

Good boots are hard to find. Trendy faux fur is usually not. . .

I completely agree with the other ladies and the boots. However, if you feel that you can get the jacket without it setting you too far behind on your boot goal, then get the jacket too ( but not instead of ).

Is there something that you can consign or ebay to make up some of the cost ?

I'm in a similar situation, and tomorrow I'm supposed to go shopping with friends. I asked everyone what they thought I should do. But here's the rub: I really don't even feel like going! Since starting my shopping ban, the intense cravings I've had to shop are diminishing. Today I took a pair of shoes back to a store and didn't even feel like poking around, even though I had time to kill.

So, my point is (and I do have one, lol!) Maybe if you bypass this jacket, your feelings will begin to wane, but it you buy it, perhaps you will stoke the fires and have to begin your fast all over again (in order to save for the boots).

Just like when one gives up chocolate for lent! At first it is missed terribly, but after a few weeks, the cravings subside. Just a thought. BTW, the boots are FAB!

The jacket seems a bit "meh" to me, but I'm not so keen on fur (my recent post on the fur bolero notwithstanding).

However, I wanted to thank you for point out Duo boots! I'd never heard of them before. They are expensive but not so astronomical that I can't imagine one day being able to order a pair myself, and the custom calf fit is an awesome thing for the plus-size lady.

Rachylou, a valid point but I have to try, I think Duo boots usually last for the season but if not I would have a £200 boot budget to find an alternative.

RoseandJoan, chocolate does the thing for me too. And I'm in the bad habit of picking the expensive one( I'm chowing now dark chocolate with lavender). Also, I love those boots. Please get them!

A little late to the conversation here, but another vote to save for the boots and pass on the coat. Those boots are truly beautiful and will be go-to items for many years whereas the jacket seems like something you could fall out of love with or tire of quickly.
