Chelle, another thread reminded me of this: you might try Ralph Lauren jeans. In the past, I have had really good luck with that brand. Try Macy's or any department store, or their online site (they are having a sale right now), or Marshall's or TJ Maxx, which often have them.
They have jeans in very classic cuts, in bootcut or straight leg, in various washes - with a higher waist!!!
I haven't worn them in awhile because they run big and now I am too small to fit in their smallest size, but I can vouch for the fabric. The RL jeans I've had in the past do not stretch out, and are very well made. And they have styles with a higher waist, I'm guessing 9-9.5 inches?
