NAS Selections for me - YouLookFab Forum

This is my first NAS so I'm going slowly. These are a few items on my fall/winter list, and I found choices for some of them. I can do returns easily to local stores so will probably order these today. These clothing items all need to be petites. I am a bit underwhelmed so far but will reserve judgement and enjoy the ride!

- pencil or tube skirt in a color other than black or grey, that can be styled fairly casually. I like Halogen and have other items of this brand.

- moto-style sweater in a color other than grey (which I already have). I have found Caslon knits to stretch out and look sloppy pretty quickly in the past, their fabrications don't seem too sturdy, so have low expectations for this one.

- black ankle boots to wear with skirts/tights, with a low heel, and no open toes, cutouts etc. Found several options and am leaning toward the EF ones as first choice, and will probably order a couple of different ones.

- turtlenecks in merino wool...nothing, all I found was cashmere which is not what I want right now. Also checked regular sizing for cropped styles, nothing there either.

These look great, Chris! I like the Halogen skirt. I hadn't noticed it. I think it's wise to try a bunch of the booties because it all comes down to fit -- in styling they all look good although I prefer the Blondos and EFs myself.

I really like that Halogen skirt, very fun design. I own a similar knitted moto and can confirm that it is crazy versatile and my go-to piece whenever I don't know what topper to grab. Booties all look good (my favorites are the EFs) and I would go for whichever pair is the most comfortable.

The Halogen skirt looks great, and so does the mixed media jacket. Of the booties, I think the Blondo's and the EF's look to be the most versatile, but I would go with whichever fits the best.

Thanks Suz! Yes that Halogen skirt seems like it might be visually slimming a lot like a tube skirt. I found it by searching on Petites. You are so right on boots, it's all about the fit and how they look on the foot. I have found most of the EF sandals I've looked at lately to be "clunky" somehow to my eye but these boots do not skew that way to me. Thanks for the recommendations.

Thanks Tanya, totally agree about moto style sweaters being super versatile. I have an Eileen Fischer wool one in a slightly brownish grey that is a super workhorse, and I will wear it until it disintegrates. The moto style when available in petites works really well on me and I love the style.

I like all these picks, Chris! Sad to hear about your experiences with the quality on Caslon knits, because that moto sweater might have been on my list too. I'm down with the mix of structure and comfort.

All these pieces together make it look like you're wanting to add some more hard edge to your style. Is that your goal?

And I would totally try several booties before you decide. It's amazing how comfortable some can be and how uncomfortable others are.

That Halogen skirt just keeps calling. It's a great look. Same with the moto jacket. I'll drop in another like for the EF booties. They're lovely. The buff color also. Booties really do come down to fit, so any of these might be the one!

its funny how I didn't see some of those booties when I shopped this morning (at 6AM EST)...don't know if they were added later, or somehow my size was/is already gone....I have a "thing" for western style boots, so I love the Sarto, but the blondo are waterproof, and I love that....I'm not a skirt person, so I'll leave it at that.

Jenn I'm getting the Caslon moto sweater, and hoping the quality is ok. You know I had not thought of these items as being "hard edge" but I guess they are. I already know I like the moto jacket style regardless of what I call it, and the skirt is definitely an experiment. A little hard edge would be totally ok with me. Maybe it's a conceptual replacement for menswear somewhere in the back of my mind

Thistle yes, I learned earlier this spring about the "hit rate" on buying shoes ordered online. Have to be prepared for a LOT of returns. I wish I could do more shoe shopping in stores but I usually do not find many choices that I like. Returning boots is a bit more of a pain than shoes because the boxes are larger and it takes more shopping bags to haul them into the stores etc.

kkards I was searching by heel height, color, and price range. There seemed to be a LOT of sizes available. We could do a whole forum discussion on how to do online searches, and how different it needs to be for every site And maybe as you suggest, some of these were added after you looked.
