NAS: Barbour jacket

I've been looking for a quilted jacket for some time, and this Barbour jacket in this gorgeous rose gold color caught my eye. Has anyone seen in person? I browsed through a lot of the NAS items (the sneak peek, I don't have a card) but this was the main item I felt like might be worth splurging on.

Oh, I didn't notice that it came in this color. It would be a perfect shade for you, and a good item for fall in Boston. You little preppie.

I think that color would be amazing on you! How do you feel about the length? Although all the classic quilted jackets (Barbour, Burberry, etc) seem to be that length, I have to admit I find it awkward.

UmmLila: I went to one of the preppiest colleges on Earth--to my eye, Boston/Cambridge isn't even that preppy. But yes, I agree this would be a good fall/spring item--a good mixup from my longer trench or mixed wool coats.

Diana: I actually prefer the slightly longer length and waist shaping--the straighter shorter jackets (when zipped) can just sit on my hip and ride up, which isn't ideal. I prefer the Nordstrom one to this one, for example: http://www.barbour.com/us/all-.....igh-quilte

Actually, I meant I find it still too SHORT. I like my jackets to cover my butt entirely. But on the other hand the model is probably a lot taller than you or I!

Oh, haha, I didn't even think of that. That's not something I mind, I think--I visually like the proportions of a shorter jacket especially since I'm short. As you said though, the jacket is probably going to sit a lot longer on us than on the model...

Oh, I actually went to prep school in Connecticut, so I had to stay away from e.g. corduroy for about 20 years after that. Now I will incorporate a little here and there but don't want to be mistaken for someone whose name is Muffy. I still think this is a good jacket for you.

That's a very nice color and I also like the contrasting lining. I have not seen it in person but I think it will be a good jacket.

My store didn't have it so hard to know the true color. But I love Barbour and it wears so well.

YES. It's impeccable, although quite masculine even in the salmon. Runs big.

Angie, thanks for the response. The impeccable quality of a Barbour would be what I'm after...all my other coats/jackets for the fall are rather feminine so a masculine jacket would be fine. The only problem is that it's completely sold out in the pink...hopefully there will be some returns.

So the rose color sold out within a day the sale opened, and by yesterday the item was sold out in colors. But they restocked today, and against my better judgment, I opened up a Nordstrom card and got the jacket. Holding off until Angie posts her picks to buy anything else, plus there's nothing else I really need--this jacket fills a hole.

Crazyone, so glad you got the jacket! And I hope it works out. I did the same thing last year, I wanted a jacket and it sold out and when I saw it came back in stock I opened a Nordstrom card.

Just got a email notice from Nordstrom that this order was cancelled because it wasn't in stock when I ordered it...very disappointed right now

I'm the least preppy person I know, and I LOVE Barbour . I think of them as less preppy than English Countryside (which I also know nothing about - lol). Mine is the traditional waxed olive green - no plaid though, which I am glad for as it allows me to wear a bigger variety of scarves and colours underneath. I will also be buried with this piece - well, not buried, but you know what I mean This rose colour is intriguing and will look really good with your colouring.
