Marianna, thanks for your Nordstorm write up on the cards. I thought there was just one card and my local SA are always telling me with how much I shop there I really should have a card with them.

! I can sense the excitement Angie! But I am afraid I still don't quite understand how it works...? Something about a shopper and pre-sales (I have not used a shopper before ever so I don't really get that, and a pre-sale sounds like.. you can see/buy stuff before the sale? ) -_-

AHHH, Marianna, you are such a tease! I can't WAIT to find out what's new about preselection this year.

Aida, the pre-sale is exactly that ~ you get to see/order items at the sale prices before the sale opens officially to the public. You can then pick up your items later on during the sale (sometimes items are shipped directly to you).

You don't have to have a personal shopper to do a pre-sale with; many people just ask for a pre-sale appointment with a certain SA who has helped them in the past. Last year I got to know a few SAs in the spring (by "know" I mean I simply bought a few items with them) and then for NAS I called one I liked and asked for a pre-sale appointment with her. It worked well.

In Chicago, Kristen & I have never needed a Nordie's card to shop the pre-sale. They are pretty lax out here in the hinterlands

And to answer your question, Una: Yes! We are excited!

Many, many of my best wardrobe picks ever have come from NAS. Last year's sale was just great, and I am hoping for a better dress and shoe selection this year.

Hee hee -- Lisa, having seen a fraction of your fabulous, high-quality shoe collection, I think that SA knows what she's talking about.

When I came to YLF, I didn't really get what the big deal was about being able to purchase *incoming* merchandise at a big discount. But I certainly get it now. Aida, you'll love it!

Okay, color me stumped. If I am living 90 minutes from any Nordstrom and shop online, can I get in on any sale action? Is this only in person? I am wanting to buy the Trouve tee that Jenava suggested but would love to wait for a sale price if it's likely to happen soon.

I'd be more excited if I hadn't been on a spending bender since February! There's not much money left......

My question is the same as Mo's. Someone said "pick up items later"... does that mean you have to go to a brick-and-mortar Nordstroms? If so I'm either out of luck or have to travel to Seattle to take advantage of this.

Aida and for those unfamiliar with the event, it’s when Nordstrom previews their new season merchandise (Autumn 2011/12 collections) and offers it at insane prices for two weeks only. Prices are marked up again after the sale period. This event officially kicks off the American Autumn retail season (my favourite shopping time of the year).
You’ll score if you approach the sale with a plan. It’s an ideal time to purchase high ticket statement pieces for less.

Malina, you can get in on the online action from midnight on the 15th July (Seattle time). My hot picks go out in the middle of the night - it's YLF tradition. Yes, we stay up a good portion of the night to do them.

They are very strict about requiring a Nordstrom card to preselect here in Seattle because it's the flagship and gets EVERYTHING. I am preselecting with clients from the 5th to the 12th July. I will be *very* busy

I missed the last NAS also.. But remember reading about other people scoring and being jealous ;). What kind of mark down can we expect at NAS - 20/30 %? or it depends?

Isabella, I believe it's 33% off the retail price.

I am very excited for NAS! My sister and I pre-selected last year (we both have the debit card) and found it to be such an easy experience. Hope we'll be able to do the same with our mom this year.

NAS is actually better than Christmas. And Christmas around here is my favorite time of year, so that tells you something.
