Cat2 you might be on to something there. I usually like sleeve lengths at around my elbow, sometimes a little shorter is okay but not the regular short sleeve length at all. Its something I'm looking for when pinning clothes and adding to finds.

Thanks for telling me about her. I’ll have a look.

But honestly, it’s a bit disappointing, but it’s going to be a while before I dig into ethics of clothing production. A decade ago, when I was teaching, I think it was surprising for most students to hear. It’s awesome that its changing. For the time being, im just going to rely EU production & second hand; I have to deal with other things right now. The shop that pays attention so where how its fabric is woven is very encouraging to hear about.

Have you been following Anchie’s posts? She’s decided this year to buy one full outfit a month, and is being very careful that all the pieces in each outfit mix and match with the rest of her wardrobe too. I mean, if you have the money to put into this all at once, I’m not going to stop you, but Anchie’s model would get you outfits to wear right away and would let you tinker with funnel necks and burgundy closer to the fall, when more of them are in shops, and decide exactly what to get as the year progresses.

Btw, I love the slash neck pinnies (I guess that’s what you’d call them; to me they are jumpers) at the start of this thread. Your color scheme is right up my alley. A couple years ago I decided I wanted to be able to dress in berry shades from head to toe: blackberry, raspberry, (actual) cherry, (actual) blueberry, cranberry, that whole side of the color wheel. I got a couple items the color of that Fair Indigo top as part of that (and then ice pink seeped in, which isn't part of your deal). Blue is just a natural for me. I don’t make any effort to focus on it; if anything, I try to pull my hand away. But if you saw the post with my bridge pictures, you know I wear it a lot. And black-and-white pattern is my “color” for this year. I have quite a few items with bold patterns that I want to wear in more interesting ways. So there is a good deal of overlap there.

I'm glad you commented FashIntern, as it has made me look into the ethics of some of my selections (I did get carried away by the aesthetics of some French brands up there which I don't think are something I can be completely happy and comfortable with). The flared crop Jeans for example are from a French influencer's line of clothing. Jeanne Damas. They really aren't so environmentally friendly or ethical at all. I did find a similar style but slimmer in the legs, which might not necessarily be a bad thing from a more ethical and environmentally concious brand, so i'll add those to my finds instead. Now for the skirt choices. I spent a long time looking for suitable candidates for skirts, but I'm going to keep my eye out.

I like the idea of getting a full outfit per month. I had planned on doing something similar, though since i'm shipping from abroad I might also have to prioritise buying things from the same store if there is more than one item on my list. I'll see how it goes. I'll also try prioritise things that might not be around for very long over those that will be in the shops longer.

I think your idea of sticking to the EU and secondhand is a good one. You can be assured of minimum wages. When I want to move away from the type of brands specifically known for their ethics, that's what I have been looking for.
Anyway, you always give me a lot to think about. Thank you!

Thank you for your thoughtful threads!

I removed the two cropped flared jeans and the two skirts from my wardrobe ideas because really I can't happily purchase them ethically but I did find a few others i'd be happy to buy and I think i'll deviate a little from always having flared outfits. The slim trousers I added and I think i'll add a few tube skirts when I find some that will look elegant enough to be dressed up but also work dressed down too. I did find some in People tree but the waist is like obviously elasticated and I think cheapens the look a little. I'm not sure if it is made of jersey or not either. The skirts i've added are short but one of them is made to order so can be made in a longer size, the only problem being its made of wool but i'm going to message the company and ask if they could potentially make it in a thick woven cotton or corduroy instead. Its good job my husband is fluent in French! The other one i'll just wear in winter with opaque tights.

Nice! The skirts’ shape is similar to my paisley corduroy one.

Idk what you thought of my suggestion to look at Australian ethical brands to lessen the shipping distance, but deb just mentioned this company. https://www.tluxe.com/pages/about
I see several necklines, pants, and shorts that might appeal to you. Also, there are several forum members who are in Australia and interested in ethical purchases. They could probably suggest other brands to look at.

Thank you for mentioning Sezene and Philipa K. Shopping things made ethically in China and Bangladesh is a better idea than blocking those countries entirely, no matter what they do.
