I'm trying not to shop too much, so I ordered something I knew I needed plus one small for the listing, from NAS

Kendra Scott necklace: it looks golden some lights, though I did order and receive the Rose gold. I still love it.

NYDJ Ami jeans: I have a black pair of NYDJ jeans that are a little too big for me. I had not taken into account the advice to size down. Well, I size down for these, and they are so tight across my belly that they are cutting off circulation! I'm a bit bloated right now, and I need to try them again when I'm not. Even though I have wide hips and thighs, my belly is the hardest part of me to fit in jeans and pants because it tends to bloat, and because I have a very short waist, which means the belly is high At least I think that's why. Should I try to wear these so they strecth? I like them otherwise. But I have to be able to actually wear them so they can stretch with wear.

Pretty necklace, and may I suggest you also try a size up in the jeans.

I may not bother then, Angie! I have a pair in the next size - they are more of a straight leg shape, but there is nothing wrong with them except being a bit loose from wear. The color is still very black and they aren't worn out any place. Both pairs would fill the same need in my wardrobe really.

i made the mistake of keeping my normal size in those jeans.....they stretch ridiculously. i hardly wear them for that reason.

Yep that's what happened to me. I love them otherwise though. Sigh. I'll try this again after my belly is flatter in a few days then decide.

I veer towards an apple and my stomach tends to bloat too... while my legs/hips/thighs stay slim. Jeans are frustrating for me. I have never found a NYDJ that worked, but I stopped trying years and years ago.

I think these look pretty good on you -- but I totally get it, looks aren't the same as feels.

What works for me these days is Wit & Wisdom-- the absolution versions. They have elastic in the waistband, but it looks like a real waistband. I've got a couple of pairs and another one winging it's way to me from NAS.

That, and Ann Taylor Modern skinny high rise jeans.

The necklace is really pretty, and it's great to get a nice bra that fits!
The jeans look very good in the photo--it's not apparent that they are cutting into your waist. But if they aren't comfy in the waist, you won't wear them, will you? I had a pair of NYDJ jeans that I had to pass on early because of that very issue. They looked pretty darned good, but they were uncomfortably tight in the waist, which I didn't realize until I'd had them a while. Like Shiny, I've pretty much given up on the brand now, because they just don't fit me that well. Doesn't keep me from trying them on the store once in a while, though, because you never know when something might just work.

Christina, are your current NYDJ jeans the same cut (name)? If not, it might be worth trying these in the next size up, because the cuts do differ quite a bit.

I have apple tendencies as well and have never found a pair of NYDJ's that fit me, even though I'm at the bottom of their size range. They are always either too big or tight enough at the waist to create muffin top.

And jeans which are tight at the waist are no fun to wear, even if they eventually will stretch out. I vote pass.

Firecracker, I think I have the Marilyn jeans. I'm sure that's a more forgiving cut.

I also had some Loft black jeans that I wore to death. I could just get those again but they don't hold up as well as the NYDJ's did, stretch aside.

I've been meaning to try Wit & Wisdom. Sounds like that may be ideal. I almost certainly will return these and may order those instead.

Sounds like you are getting great advice on the jeans. I have a long rise and a short waist. I'm not an apple but I'm rectangle-ish. The NYDJs that I tried really didn't work for me. Rise was way too high (even with my own long rise) and they stretched like mad. But as Firecracker says, the styles do differ and you never know. But I'm all for your trying different brands so you get a fit that feels great on you.

Suz, you make a good point about rise. I'm very short waisted, but I may have a long or at least "normal" rise. Petite pants don't work on me, though I'm 5'4, and that may be one reason why.

If you like the fit of LOFT jeans, definitely try the Ann Taylor jeans! Better material. I haven't checked lately as I bought mine a season or two ago. Modern high rise skinnies. I got them in petites but I'm 5'0 tall.

They are super comfy. Just enough stretch, but not too much. An upgrade to LOFT denim, but that includes price. I remember I had to stalk them online because they kept selling out, and weren't in the stores, at least in petites. They are my "go-to" for work jeans now.

The Wit and Wisdom jeans are more stretchy, but I love them too. Lighter weight fabric (the ones I have-- I have the light wash, the darker wash I tried I didn't like so much). They'll stretch out so I feel like I have to wash and dry them again, but then I'll see me in pictures of them and they look just fine, so it may just be a mental/feel thing. Because they are soft and comfy and no I couldn't possibly be wearing jeans, right?

(I'm so used to jeans being unforgiving torture machines around the waist)

Why don't you see if the smaller size stretches out a bit while you road test them at home.

That's my plan, Angie. I'm just not too optimistic, so I want a backup plan.

Yes I hadn't worn my NYDJ enough and I think partly it was that they're not totally comfy around the waist. I have recently tried wearing them again and it's not too bad. They certainly hold me in and the rise is good on 5 foot 2 me. I feel they suit me and I love the look of them but will prob never wear them as much as my 2 elastic waist pairs. Could you try getting the too big pair tailored? I had to put some wide elastic inside the back waistband of mine to pull it in as I am quite sway-backed, that helped.

I'm going to try them again when I'm less bloated. If I need to send them back, Wit & Wisdom is my next stop. I have a few more items I may order from NAS if they are still around towards the end (new budget month), and that can be one of them. I can also see about tailoring the old ones, but tailoring is expensive in NYC so I have to think carefully about how much more wear they have in them before I do that.Thanks ladies!

Just an update - put them in again and it seemed unlikely that the waist band would ever get to where I need it to be, even with stretching. Going to return. I wanted the black ankle Wit & Wisdom jeans from the sale, but they're gone online and there's no Nordstrom in NYC (not yet). But these are still going back and I will either buy the others after a restock or find something else.

Oh, I'm sorry they won't work, but you've done the right thing for sure. If they're not comfy you would avoid wearing them, and what's the point of that?

Love the necklace. I have tried NYDJ several times and they do not work for me. Reading through this post I am realizing there are lots of other forum members who have not liked them.

I am with you on the waist band issues. Just wanted to say that if you call customer service they might be able to locate them at a particular store rather than waiting for them to appear online. Sometimes I am considering the possibility of getting little V's with extra fabric sewn into the waist bands of jeans that otherwise fit well. I haven't tried it yet. It's an idea I got from member Vix from a thread where I was moaning about fitting pants. I need to find a good tailor.

Wit & Wisdom jeans came and fit perfectly (I didn't end up sizing down though). They hug my body without pinching. They're longer on me but I expected that.

I also got some PJ's and the Halogen magic cropped flare pants in burgundy. They are indeed awesome.

Hooray for you Christina! Those look great. I've found this thread interesting. NJDJ are imported here and praised to the skies in our magazines and nice boutiques, but this thread has had "grass roots" evidence that they don't work for lots of people. I don't think after my own experience of only moderate comfort that I will buy another pair.

The other problem I have with NJDJ jeans is that the sizing is inconsistent.
