My style is not distressed, nor is it conservative. It's rarely sporty or bohemian but sometimes can be if the mood strikes. I can't really think of any others.
The only thing I try to never express in my style is masculinity. I'm willing to wear a lot of things that are commonly labeled "mens' wear", but only if they are far, far to feminine to ever be worn by typical man.
I really don't know what I'm not. I kinda try to be a bit of eveything, don't like to label myself too much -not yet, anyways. It really depends on my mood. I'm not very edgy, though, or eclectic. I think.
This is oh-so-much easier than figuring out what I am. I am not:
-edgy
-urban
-funky (Even if I try to be these three, I can't do it. I can take the most "edgy" piece in the world and make it somehow look fussy or conservative.)
-romantic
-masculine
-preppy
From reading other people's posts, I have to say that I think my style is what a lot of other people's is not...
Sporty, sexy, classic, understated, mature, conservative, glamorous, serious, or easy.
Side note: I know a lot of people strive to be effortless and easy, but I want to look effort-ful. Is that weird? I don't want to look fussy and overly superficial, but I don't mind people knowing that I put some thought into my appearance.
My style is decidedly not boho, edgy, earthy, sporty or arty. Hehe, I had to laugh when reading Maya's list, because I strive to be most of the things she is not. This is why fashion is such fun!
My style is not boho, gamine, sporty/preppy, grungy, vintagey, artistic-eclectic, casual.
Though artistic-eclectic is something I would like to embrace and integrate in some small measure into my own style.
Hehe, Maya, sporty is the only "not" we have in common! Just looked over your list again, and with that one exception I stick by what I said.
Which makes it all the more fun that we can pick things out for each other, share advice etc!
Ha, Tara, I'm right with you RE: never going to be photographed by The Sartorialist. (And that's okay - his photos are definitely fascinating, but I don't 100% share his aesthetic of what is interesting, stylish, or art-worthy.)
My style is definitely not interesting, modern, creative street fashion!
I think I am starting to feel isolated in my style. I seem to be everything everyone else is not! I would love to be photographed by the Sartorialist- (Most of the time I love the looks he spots especially in Italy and France.
