MY new dress (not Boden!) - YouLookFab Forum

I bought this a couple of weeks ago at BR... Angie suggested in her navy/white dress that I show you, so here it is.

I was initially a bit hesitant as it says "dry clean", but not "dry clean only". So not sure how I'll deal with this, but I do like it enough to keep either way. It's so comfortable, I love the fit (just skims the body, which is what I like for hot summer days) seems well made, and is the perfect casual but can be dressed up for my (pretty casual in the summer) workplace.

I'm happy that it goes with the cardigan in #5 - I got this last year but it didn't turn out to be as versatile as I'd hoped - navy was wrong for the other navy dress I have. And too short for pants.

Curious what you think of it with the BR denim peplum in #6. Does the peplum and knot in the front compete with each other too much?

Thoughts and comments on styling, or other suggestions, welcome!

Great dress on you!! Hope the dry clean situation works out. I think the peplum jacket is just a tad too long to wear with the dress. My favorite is the longer white cardi.

Love the stripes! I think the denim peplum in #6 is too long for the dress. I prefer the long cardigan in #7 to the other toppers.

Fantastic dress on you! Relaxed (it looks great with the sneakers) but with a little of your characteristic edge.

I love it with both cardis, but I agree with the other comments that the length of the peplum jacket isn’t quite right.

Great dress! I like it best sans topper but the ones you showed look good. The only one I don't think works is the peplum. Looks like a fab summer dress!

I agree 100% that the peplum is too long. Funny, IRL when I put it on, all I could see was the detail of the peplum at exactly the same spot as the detail of the dress, and it seemed a bit too much going on. I didn't really look at the photo before I posted, but now that I do, I totally see that the length is off.

Lovely dress suits you beautifully,not keen on it with the jacket though,the jacket looks too formal to go with the casual vibe of the dress.Everything else is great.

Love this, Elizabeth. I'm not crazy about the peplum jacket but the long white sweater is a fantastic look.

I bought this dress in the solid navy. I was happy to find a t-shirt dress in a more substantial fabric. I haven't washed mine yet but plan to cross my fingers and do a cold hand wash cycle.

Nice!! I shouldn't even look at stripy dresses, I have too many as it is. My fav is #7, with the longer topper and the white sandals. Casual and elegant. The peplum seems to be competing a bit with the twist in the dress; I think the longer and shorter toppers both look more intentional.

It looks fantastic on you. I like 3 and 7 best. Prefer with light sneakers to dark but lucky you can wear either (or your citron). I think the peplum's the wrong proportion for it, though.

Marilyn, if you remember, I'd love to know how you make out once you wash yours. I'll try to remember to let you know, too. It might be August before it's warm enough here to wear it though.... I had the navy in my basket for a long time... but I already have a plain navy dress so wisdom prevailed, for once. It's lovely.

Suz, yes, sort of. I tend to run between sizes for tops in BR, and took the larger of the two in this. Both fit, but I thought this one was slightly better fit across the shoulders, plus I wanted to err on the side of looser for the summer.

Bijou, I do have a denim jacket but it's a bit long for dresses. I agree one would look great with this, and I think I may see if I can find a "dress appropriate" length one. I've often wished I had one, just haven't done anything about it!

It’s interesting to see how different we can be... I saw suz’s comment on preferring the light footwear... I actually had the opposite thought, preferring the dark- I really like #1 with the dark sneakers.

Looks great Elizabeth! I like it best with the long white cardi, if a topper is necessary. All the footwear works well to my eye with the silver/white sandals being my fave.

I own this dress and love it. I have worn it at least twice a week since buying it. I have worn it with my navy Euro sandals for casual days and with a flat strappy nude patent leather sandal for a dressier look. To wash it, I put it in a lingerie bag and throw it in the washing machine on delicate. I lay it flat to dry so it doesn't stretch. No fading, shrinking, or pilling so far. It looks great on you. For a topper I have been wearing my faded shrunken Levi's jean jacket. I would add finds but have not successfully figured out how to do that and have not quite worked up the courage to post WIW. Hope this is helpful. And I did go down a size in this dress.

Chiming in— super dress on you. Agrees, shirt navy or king white topper. White slides are fab but it’s versatile with the sneakers too. A keeper!
