Oh my gosh, Jeneva! This is SENSATIONAL on you! LOVE a million times. So so pretty. I'm glad you sprang for it. Absolutely wear it later to the opera. Wear it as often as you can. It's so flattering, pretty, fresh, and beautiful on you.
Wow, couture! You can tell because it supports you without the fussy sliding underbits. I love it long, and like Cat2 and you both mention, it would be lovely at cocktail length also, if you decide that is more your-life-friendly, after the big wedding.
The dress is fabulous and very you. I would do the same in a heartbeat - splurge on a gown. At 49 I’ve also never worn one including for my wedding (I was not a fan of the strapless, wide skirt styles that were very dominant at the time, nor could I get super excited about a white dress, so I went with a simple Greek goddess style). I would love an excuse to buy a gown in a beautiful colour or pattern such as this one! A black tie event calls for something special and I’m glad you found something you love.
So glad you decided to keep it! This dress looks splendid on you, and it clearly makes you very happy. I have no doubt you'll find/make other opportunities to wear it.
You can wear it without a bra? Worth its weight in gold just for that, but it is stunning on you regardless. Yes, eventually consider shortening it a bit, or just wear it out and set a new standard!
It looks beautiful on you. I hope you'll wear it to many occasions. I love the fact that you can wear it without a bra! I dream of a dress like that, haha
I have gone to so many formal weddings and got tired of spending lots of money on gowns/evening wear that I could wear only once or twice (same people in these events) so, last year for my cousin's wedding I bought a vintage dress (photo) from ThredUp for first time in my life! It was very well made and only $50
Next week I'm invited to another wedding and this time I'm making my own dress.

This dress was made for you, it is perfection. Keep and enjoy and YES to wearing it as much as possible, who cares if you are overdressed when you look this stunning!
This is and amazing dress and a fab fit on You! It is so hard to find a gown for grown up women/and bigger busts (esp. for braless!!)! I never thought of dressing in a print for a formal event but I see it can be very beneficial. A good print+texture (like this one) can lighten up the formality a bit without compromising the core standards- and can perhaps be easier to wear than a plain&smooth fabric. Esp love the neckline-...AND A.L.L....including longer hair! Enjoy!
Echoing what everyone else has said, this gown couldn't be more perfect for you! It looks like it was made for you and I can't believe its structure allows you to go bra-less--this is the ultimate unicorn dress!! You look so beautiful. Yes, wear it everywhere, I say!
