Moto or Bomber?

I recently purchased a beautiful blue suede moto jacket. The fit is perfect. The sleeves are long enough for me and the torso isn't too wide. The color is divine. I thought this was a HEWI. My question is should I have put my budget money towards a Bomber instead? It still has the tags attached and can be returned.

Since it is a HEWI and it was difficult to find, I say stick with the suede moto. Motos are pretty much timeless while bombers are more of the " of the moment" pieces. Plus, bombers are also more casual, while your style strikes me as more polished.

Agreeing with Tanya that motos are classic and almost timeless. This jacket sounds perfect in terms of fit, color and fitting in with your polished style. I say keep!

I agree with everything Tanya said. I like my bombers but find motos easier to style. This one looks beautiful. Since bombers are a bit more of a trend piece for right now, maybe one of the more budget-friendly ones would suffice? I love the one I got from Zara and I expect it will outlast the trend, making it a bargain for what I paid for it. My motos were mostly more expensive pieces but I'll wear them forever.

It's a great jacket, but you don't seem to be in love with it. Why is that? Look for a bomber and see which you like better.

Especially for an upscale leather item.

If you get bomber- itis there are lots of options in different fabrics/ pricepoints.
If you had 2 options on the chopping block of course you could compare relative fits.

Or say for example if bombers actually are a targeted fit style for body type( which I think is less true here), then one could discuss, yes moto's are timeless, but be sure to get what fits you well, don't just follow a list ( classic black moto! Classic tan trench!).
Is there some reason you started to have second thoughts?

How about playing in your closet this weekend and creating some outfits with the moto jacket? That sort of endeavor always helps me to make a decision regarding a keep or return question. By the way -- have you tried the jacket with your new pleated maxi skirt?

Keep the moto. It's so beautiful. You can find a trendy bomber anywhere at a non-budget busting price.

I am heavily biased in favor of moto jackets. But that said, I still think you should keep it because it was hard to find and it sounds like you really love it!

For myself, I *do* think that body type is a factor, out of experience with these very different cuts of jacket over the years. Bombers are out for me because they just don't work with my petite frame + large bust + unremarkable neck length. Have you tried on any bombers? That could bring you an answer--or just tempt you with more to buy...

I love the moto that you posted. It looks like a classic piece that you would enjoy for years to come. I find motos are very flattering. They expand the shoulders and frame the face.
I echo what others have said about bombers. They are trendy right now but I doubt they have the staying power of a classic.

Well, you have to keep this. But I'm not quite sure why you can't look for a bomber as well? Esp if you look for a cheapish price point, which is logical for something trendier. I think they serve very different purposes.

I want to echo JAileen...and wonder a little if you feel a moto is too visually heavy...because I can't think of anything you wear that's as visually heavy like a moto...

My quandary arose when looking at current trends. I was thinking that perhaps a moto would be a less current look, or even one that is getting stale? I know they are supposed to be classic, but like many classic items, they go through phases. Moto's waning bombers rising. I think bombers are also considered classic. I kind of like the look of the new longer length bombers. I have owned many bomber style jackets in the past. My HS Varsity jacket is a great example. I certainly had a Members Only jacket in the past, as well as an Adidas bomber style track jacket. They're nostalgic in a way that a moto isn't (in my life anyway).

However, I love the look of a moto jacket. I have a coral leather moto that I wear frequently. I have had two moto style sweaters. I love the blue suede moto. I can see myself wearing it with dresses and jeans.

The blue moto is stunning, I cannot imagine a bomber could really compare. However, as you do have a beautiful leather moto, it is possible that a bomber may give you more outfit variety. I am still on team blue moto, I am sure you look incredible wearing this with jeans.
