My 21 yo daughter and I have shopped the NAS together the last two years. I'm now attempting my first conversation starter - I hope I can make it work correctly! We had such a fun time together last night starting with shoes where our youthful, male SA was sweet, earnest and had a good sense of style. We each wanted booties but I thought all the heels were too high and she thought they were all too low (at her modest price point). 1) I had had my eye on the Gentle Souls sneakers and she fell for them too. She tried the red and I tried the gray. As is typical for that brand, they are really comfy - they do have a wide-ish fit at the top. They worked for both my high volume problem feet and her average width, carefree feet. Then she and the SA ganged up on me and persuaded me to get the red instead of the cement. They're right, the grey would be hard to match and since most of my clothes are black and grey, the red will look great. Note: the color is called brick but it sure looks more like plum to me (a little purple and no brown in the red). My daughter was delighted that we were going to have matching shoes and suggested that we looked like we could fashionably fight crime in these shoes.
At the next stop, I picked up 2) a long cashmere cardi - not the thickest or highest quality cashmere but a good price, lightweight which works well for this always-warm 50-something and, fabulously, available in XL petite which isn't easy to find. I decided against the camel as I thought it would look like too much fabric for short, round me and the charcoal is beautiful. Franx, who aspires to a Cozy Chic wardrobe, absolutely fell in love with 3) the black, textured sweatshirt-like dress. She thought she would like it in grey but it's really smashing in black and, in-person, you can actually see the texture (unlike in the photo) - she sized up to a medium to allow plenty of freedom around the hips. She tried it on with the GS sneakers and it was great! AND pockets! She also picked up 4) a grey and black Caslon zip-backed sweater - the cotton/rayon fabric is lovely quality and I hope won't pill too quickly - she wore her usual size small.
We each got our favorite undies and she got replacements for her Natori feathers bra and Zella leggings and was thrilled with the cost-savings. While trying to find some black pants for work (I got some on non-anniversary sale cause my store didn't have many at all), a SA went to look at plus-sizes for me (I'm on the cusp) and I was surprised to LOVE 5) leggings by Two by Vince Camuto - super thick and a great dark black. I can wear them with lower hip-length tops and not worry about see-throughness or accentuating my lumps and bumps. I do have to roll them but I'm used to that.
Now, I'm just waiting for my 6) PG graphite loafers and crossing my fingers that they fit and are comfy. I'm also thankful that I read YLF and could see that they were going to sell out quickly and didn't wait for in-person shopping to get them.
I've SO appreciated the posts about the sale here on YLF - thank you to everyone!
