Statement pieces that are more "quiet" - suggestions?

In her recent post regarding statement pieces Angie said that they are
"not necessarily big, bright, shiny, or voluminous". I would like to see, or read about, examples of such more "quiet" statement pieces. Do you have any suggestions?

I may be off-base, but I feel like my fabulous navy blue cashmere bandana is a statement piece because it just ups the ante of any outfit I put it with. I bought mine at Harrod's in London and it's 100% cashmere, but here's a similar designer piece from Saint Laurent. Oh! And here's a fun red one! https://snapdragondesigns.ca/p.....1468422186

I think unique jewelry could count. It doesn't have to be big or particularly shiny. I would include my silver and malachite earrings, for example, because they are a bit unusual in shape and express my personality.

How about interesting tone on tone fabrics like white embroidery or eyelet on a white piece? The color isn’t bright, there is nothing shiny, and the shapes don’t have to be quirky for the pieces to really stand out. Or a great silk blouse in a low key color like ivory or ecru?

I bought this Eileen Fisher dress last year. It’s a tiny check print of blue and black. I think it’s a quiet statement. Yes, it looks like a big bag on me, but I like this museum docent style.

I tend to think of a quieter statement piece as something in a solid neutral color but in a unique shape or cut that isn’t overly dramatic.

Examples for me would be these pants — neutral but a slightly unusual cut, and my grey Bao Bao backpack.

I think there can be statement pieces as well as signature pieces.

They may or may not be the same - I think my tall suede boots are a signature piece - I have owned them since 2017 and wear them every winter. My light grey blazer is similar - it's not bright or an unusual style but it is signature for me.

I wonder if my rose beige coat is signature or statement - it could be both. But it's versatile and goes with lots of things, and quite classic in shape.

I am off it at the moment but my black coatigan is very plain but a statement as it is so long....

Some items from my own closet that (I think) fit the description. The jeans are debatable because they are (somewhat) voluminous but what speaks is the shape. The skirt, again, is architectural. I'd venture to say that my new anorak is another example!

Ditto to textured lighter coloured items as well.

Vintage items can also make a statement. My leather trench is one example.

Thank you for asking this because the examples everyone has given offer food for thought and the question itself invites each of us to think about our own closets in these terms.

I’m wondering if here is overlap between “ quiet statements “ and “ elevated basics”? Perhaps even Sports Luxe- like a cashmere bandana!

I like all of those concepts as ways to be a bit more distinctive, fun, and everyday- luxe. Not getting too hung up on labels, but looking out for those pieces that fit in the wardrobe/ lifestyle you have, including special occasions and aspirational occasions, but not completely “ imaginary “, and make the type of statement that’s right for you.

I liked the Link Love with Trinny shopping dept store because it is a way I sometimes browse my local ( much less varied/ upscale ) department stores & boutiques to see if there’s something “ different but me”.
