That's still a small wardrobe for a 4 season climate. You have my blessing to shop. xo

Squee! Thank you, Angie!

(And believe me, I will take you up on it....)

Joy, I didn't count my true "special occasion" wear (such as my fuchsia suit, which I really don't wear except for dressy occasions, a lace top, a long skirt) but I did count several sparkly sequinned items that I wear in the daytime, too.

Well, you have 25% less than I have at 120 but my count included my outerwear.
Did you count your Nicole Miller dress or is it a "special occasion" too?
And yes, you have my permission to shop too - until you catch up with me

I did not count the outerwear, Sveta -- that would add 5 -- two rain trenches and 3 winter coats.

I also have a down vest, bought as gear, that I sometimes wear as fashion.

I didn't count the Nicole Miller, either, because it's not really a dress you can "casualize" in any way -- it is a cocktail dress. I mean...I did wear it with a denim jacket to an event this fall, which sort of took it into a different territory, but the event was still an event, albeit an artsy one. I would wear it on a very special date night, maybe....but it would have to be something unusual in my lifestyle. Anyway...it is not going to get worn as part of my regular rotation of clothing, no how, nowhere. (Luckily, I have my Ralph Lauren sweater dress sheath for that as well as my David Meister dress, which could play in both fields.)

I think I could comfortably go up to where you are, but wouldn't want to go a lot higher than that. But that still gives me a fair bit of room to play!

My next task is figuring out in what categories I really could use those additions. Definitely outerwear would be one, and jackets, and non-blue-denim casual pants for winter.

Love the by the numbers post Suz. Not much to add just cheerleading (.... oh and I am going to get a count of my own closet done this week inspired by your post)

I have to finish my purge before I can get in on this counting stuff. I have a suspicion I will come in lower, but not because I want to. In fact, I'm feeling the pinch for cold weather things at the moment.

But yes, go shopping!

Fascinating! Your wardrobe items are so beautifully integrated with your life, your style and each other that it seems like you have more than that (in a good way).

These threads make me want to do my own count. I'm 90% sure my numbers are right around where Sveta is, and I don't want to "grow" any further. It's probably time to institute 1 in, 1 out. I'm at the stage where I'm wearing clothes out and keeping things for up to 5 years. It will be interesting to revisit your count next year and see how things have shaken out!

My wash added in a couple more items so that had me at 81.
I suppose that many surprised you Suz because I am rather minimalist and low budget. I think the reasons are
1) unlike you I have been more or less the same size for around 20 years (pregnancies and post partum period excepting). So I am still wearing items from 13-16 years ago (probably helped by the fact that they didn't get worn out by wearing during the baby period!)
2) I have clothes handed down to me. If they fit and I might like them, they go into my wardrobe for awhile while I work out if they are suitable additions
and going to stay or to move on.
3) I am not great at culling. I do it occasionally, but unlike you I'm not ruthless. In the 5 1/2 years I have been on YLF I think there are only 6-8 items that I have bought in that time period that I no longer have, and only 2 of those wasn't worn out or extremely well worn (That said, I probably have 5 items I could purge my current wardrobe)

whew! gee I am afraid to post my true numbers. Let's just say that the number 41 from my other post is specifially fall and work items but includes coats and shoes.

There are possible categories like lounge, weekend and date wear, evening wear, sport/gear and basics. Then there is jewelry, scarves, gloves, purses, and so on. The number is stll just 3 digits though!

Oh, Jayne, if I added all that stuff in, the numbers would rise pretty quickly, for sure.

And your 41 fall items does not sound all that different from my 46 F/W items. (I'm wearing what I'll wear all winter already). And I don't think it is enough....
