Angie, thanks for your response and as always lovely to be on the forum:) You have got me thinking. I do predominantly think of my style as minimal but you are right in saying it is complex.
I think Cynthia kind of nailed it, along with Lisa, that the neutral tones and lack of additional accessories can read as minimal.
I do consciously try wear one statement piece, or at least an item with interest and pair it with more minimal pieces. I always struggle with style descriptors but I think what I am naturally working towards is what you could call Chic Avant Garde and I think that can move between minimal and maximal looks.
My own interpretation of maximal is colour, pattern, accessories all mixed together. I suppose it's when I would say there is a lot going on in an outfit, but it seems so subjective. What one person thinks is a lot going on, another might not
In this outfit, I am only wearing three items. Hoop earrings, no other jewellery and sandals. And the tones are neutral so to me this reads as minimal, but I realise that perhaps a more accurate version of minimal might be the outfit I have attached below.
Thanks for the discussion. I don't analyse my style as much as I used to, but now that I feel I have honed my style, I am interested to be able to define it a little better.
Suz, it's not a belt, but a cinch clip It's a fabulous little accessory.
