Very sensible. I might still want tartan glasses, though.

Well thought out decision. Looking forward to seeing your new specs!

I do like the tartan on you!

Exciting Jenni - look forward to seeing them!

I like them! (Assuming the fit is fine.) Red is a great color on you and these are fun.

My prescription barely changes so I tend to keep a lot of my old glasses after I update to new ones…then I don’t feel self-conscious about going out on a limb for a slightly more daring new pair that might not “go” with a lot of my colors. I currently have three pairs in rotation, plus sunglasses, so I feel like I have enough choices with whatever I am wearing.

That reminds me... Who was the Scottish character in M*A*S*H ?

Och Aye Peirce !

Actually I will be contrary and say, they are too wide- and also in this photo I think the red is too much for your complexion. Meaning, a different color tartan might be better; but, the red might not be as much of a deal in a smaller frame or perhaps it’s just the lighting here. The shape of your current glasses is fabulous and the color is great, though I realize it’s also quite neutral, so not as fun or funky.
However, I do believe we can wear glasses we love, whatever the shape or color- it depends on what you’re going for, and also we all “ see” colors and styles differently.

Thanks new commenters. What you think, Unfrumped, is almost exactly what I have done- I have picked some with a slightly more muted red, more in the shape of my current frames. Also, less wide. They arrive in 3 weeks.

Oh how great! I hope they turn out the be The Ones.
I am not good at that myself so I am glad you are being intentional . I often find an item that is going in a great color or style direction but not QUITE right for me, and sometimes buy it on impulse rather than try to track down other versions. Or give up altogether.

I think you made the right choice with the regular specs. However, the tartan frames would make an excellent pair of sunglasses in my opinion. I suggest rose tinted lenses

Disclaimer: I am a shill for Dame Viv, being a Brit of a certain age…

I think if you wear glasses everyday it can be fun to have a fun pair. In saying that, I don't have a fun pair. Look forward to seeing your new glasses. You might find they are faster than 3 weeks as mine only took 2 weeks from spec savers.
I love a bit of tartan too. My ancestry is about 3/4 Scottish and I have a Scottish last name. My father had a wool scarf in the clan tartan which I have inherited. It is a vibrant red colour mixed with a few other colours and I sometimes wear it to work with my black shirt. One day I will get a kilt to wear with my boots.
