I returned the Levi's today and saw that they had MAC jeans, one of the brands Lynne recommended. I thought why not and tried some on. AND THEY FIT! I asked the SA why she hadn't shown them to me when I was there before and she just said she thought they were 'mom' jeans. I don't think that they look like mom jeans at all, I'm really happy with them! They are solid dark wash again, but look SO much better on me than the Levi's. I'm going to see if I can take some pics later and post them. I hope I'll get your approval!

Okay, here are the pics!

#1 Frontal view.

#2 Do you think they are too short? They somehow look shorter in the pics than they seem to be IRL. I now that PPL for wide legged trousers is fairly strict, but these are straight legs. Would it be okay to wear them with these shoes (pic #4)? I could also tuck them into booties. These are a 30 in length, the 32s were definitely too long and would need to be hemmed. They fit perfectly in the hips and waist!

#3 The (dreaded) frontal view of the back. The creases you see aren't noticeable in the mirror.

#4 These were the shoes I had on in the pics.

Any thoughts? Please be honest.

The jeans look like they fit you perfectly! Nice! I think the pants might be a tad short, but I am not an expert on PPL. If it were me, I'd probably just wear the ones you have rather than hassle with getting them hemmed. But I tend to be pretty practical about those things. Can you wear it with flats mostly?

Thanks! I'm on Team Flats. I would wear them with the shoes above or sneakers or with ballet flats. I still could return them for the 32s, although the SA would think I was totally batty.

Mom jeans my foot! So glad you found a pair you feel and look great in!

My monitor is too dark to tell about the length, but keep in mind they might shrink up after a wash.

Rae, I didn't think about mom jeans either when I saw them. Maybe we're from a different planet? You're right, I hadn't thought about shrinkage. Mmh.

Wow, Astrid, these are lovely! I do feel a bit nervous about the length, given that you haven't washed them yet, but I'll let the experts chime in on that. FWIW, I am 163cm and I find the 32' are better for me.

So glad you tried them; I've had several pairs and found them really flattering and long wearing. So happy for you!

Was the SA a rectangle rather than an hourglass or pear? If she wasn't curvy herself she probably wouldn' be familiar with brands for girls with defined waists and hips. And your waist is TINY - I've met you IRL and seen it!!!

Yes, I can see how the length would be problematic if they really shrink a bit. I'm 160cm and I'm between 30' and 32' most of the time. But I'll exchange them for the 32' if that's the consensus.

I don't know if the SA was a rectangle, but she was petite and not very curvy, so that could be the case.

Astrid, from what I can see, these are definitely too short as they will shrink after washing. I'd wash 2 or 3 times before hemming. And hemming with the original hem is easy. Google it; here's a tutorial I found. Look for instructions like this one where you don't have to cut the hem; that way you can let it out if they shrink more.

Thanks, Isis! The tutorial is nice. I've hemmed jeans before, but I've never thought to do it like that so the original hem is still there.

I've just tried them on with my ballet flats and with these they are just touching the ground in the back when I stand straight. But since I want to wear these now and summer is over I guess I should return them for the longer ones.

Yes, I will! And I know it will be totally worth it. She was already a bit miffed when I brought the Levi's back, seems this doesn't happen very often. Curiously my Berlin friends don't have a problem with buying and returning things, but here you have to buy and preferably suffer. Why is that?

I brought them back today and went home with the 32s. It was another SA today and she was very friendly and helpful. She double-checked to make sure I had exactly the same model only longer. I'm going to wash them a few times and then come back to you about the hemming!

Late to this, but those jeans fit you well, and I'm glad you exchanged for longer as they will shrink (I think it's supposed to be about 3%, but I always wash then hem, to be sure!).

They look great on you, Astrid! Wow, I'm honestly very happy you found your perfect pair of jeans Maybe she considers them 'mum' jeans because the dye is even and there are no scratches or something like that, I wouldn't be bothered AT ALL. Love the shoes too!
