That's my DIL's body type. And she's a very beautiful woman.

As for me, I'm just short all over... LOL!

Thumbs up for this post.

This long legged, short torsoed person thinks the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Long bodied, short legged women have it made.

You don't look short sitting down. You can see over the dashboards of cars and trunks of cars - I didn't realize that most people can see the back of their car in the rear view mirror when they're parallel parking - duh!

You don't need to be limited by shopping in the petites section - it's easy to hem a pair of pants - not so easy to change the waist shaping of a top.

If you gain weight, it doesn't automatically go to your middle making you look short and stocky.

I would be happier on your side of the fence. At least I could wear heels if I wanted to lengthen my leg line. Can't add length at my waist.

It's so funny, because there was always *something* i felt was off about my body, and it wasn't until i discovered ylf that i learned to identify my long torso'edness! I'm
5' 10", so i must have long legs, right (or so my thinking went pre-ylf). Thanks to angie and all here, i now know how to trick the eye by lengthening my leg line, or sometimes embracing the torso if i so wish to. I also realize how much we all have that one thing we wish we could change, and that ironically, what we perceive as a "vice" in ourselves, others' often see as a "virtue"!

Suz, i am so suprised to hear that this body type is used for swimsuit modeling, as i could never find one-piece suits long enough in the torso. Serious wedgie issues pre-tankini era!

Ahh this is a lovely reminder, thanks Angie! I have similar proportions to Elle but I'm sure I'm at least a foot shorter so the effect is less pronounced looking. It has taken me a loooong time to be happy that I am in this long-torso/short-leg camp, at least consciously. As much as I told myself "lengthen the leg, lengthen the leg, lengthen the leg" I refused to give up my low-rise jeans and have been slowly and steadily headed towards wearing more flats; apparently my subconscious was more OK with the thought than my conscious I'm not all the way there yet, but I certainly appreciate it more now than ever before.

EDIT: Though, being short, I do find it fascinating how much adding even just an inch through footwear changes my overall proportions.

Aida, are you sure you are proportionally short-legged? Your proportions look pretty balanced to me. Torso and legs both look about medium.

Angie, what about those of us who are just short ALL OVER? hahaha

Angie, you are as wise and wonderful as you are beautiful. What a great observation you make.

Irene, I thought of Keira Knightley too!

This long-legged, short torsoed girl, while thankful for the long legs, has always felt awkward while sitting at a table with others who are shorter while standing, only to feel like a little squat kid while seated! Pictures of me sitting down are horrible because my body looks dumpy and heavy even though I have a relatively slim waist.

So, long-torsoed gals, enjoy your long frame, just as I enjoy my long legs!

I had never noticed that about Elle!!

Thank for the encouragement Angie - from another long torso/short legs girl

I have always thought a long torso to be very elegant. It is nice to see the body type celebrated!

Thanks for chiming in ladies. It feels like a true celebration of this great body type - as it should be.

Quite right, Kiera Knightly and Kate Moss are others with short legs and long bodies. They look fab too!

I also fit into this body type though because I am short, the proportions seem different. I like knowing that models and actresses also have this shape and I will pay more attention to them when I see their pictures!
