My loungewear issue is that I have sons, and they have friends, and now I have stepdaughters, and one has a boyfriend. I can't just wear *anything* comfortable, I have to be appropriate. And with a 34 D or DD bra size, you have to give this some thought.

My loungewear used to be Race For the Cure tee shirts (tank underneath, for modesty), and pj bottoms. This is not flattering, even if you are a size 0. I am not a size zero. However, it is modest. But something rose up in me and I just couldn't do this anymore. I was tired of looking lumpy and dumpy.

I went to Soma and bought their supportive sleep camis, and a lounge cardigan and some pants. This transformed my loungewear life for summer, and it has made me so very happy; even if I get caught in just the cami and bottoms, it isn't horribly inappropriate. Then I bought leggings and a warmer cardigan for winter, and I will have flattering and comfortable loungewear that will work for those times when I'm not on my way to or immediately back from the gym.

Kiki, I bought 3 pairs of Soma's sleep shorts and I love them. They are the 'cool nights' fabric, super comfy, not too short and they even have pockets! Their lounge wear isn't cheap but the quality is very nice. I recently retired a pair of Soma shorts that I had had for YEARS.

I need one or two more lounge tops so I may head there again.

Gabrielle, could you say more about your capsule? What is Angie's method?

Susie phrased it perfectly: I want to look presentable. Once when I was alone at bf's place, FedEx rang. Was ~so~ glad I had the maxi dress on (versus the clogs and towel I'd been in all morning) because it wasn't just the delivery guy -- there was also a supervisor and a QC person along.

Dianthus, thanks for the warm welcome!

Kiki I love the idea of a lounge cardigan - can you show us a link?

This has been a fascinating thread. I am in the camp of those who like to have loungewear that is completely different from work wear. At work I like structure, but in the evening it is all about comfort. When I was a SAHM I would wear jeans in the day at home sometimes, but even then, I didn't like wearing them in the evening.

I do get frustrated that I am so often pretty frumpy at night, and certainly end up wearing my workout gear or my PJs (though I love my current ones, which have hot pink tartan pants). But I am working on a loungewear capsule.

This year I bought ponte pants, and some new leggings. I recently bought this dress http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....wear-dress which I'll wear with an older black cardi

A few years ago I bought a sweatshirt material tartan jacket which I still wear nearly every day in winter.. I am getting a bit sick of it, thought it is still not worn out though maybe a bit limp. I am very cold in the winter at home and something long, very warm and cozy is what I need. I hope to get a replacement next summer.

In summer I mostly wear sundresses.

When I have a need in mind, I am a woman on a mission! So I completed my lounge wear capsule this week. I included a few pics showing 4 of my outfits. The white leggings are Capri length and the rest are long. The blue tunic is a lightweight knit, the burgundy is a light super soft sweater and the other 2 are a bit more substantial but not heavy fleece.

Susie, awesome capsule! Such fun colors. Somehow I seem to end up in dark neutrals for loungewear. Except the sundress I picked up last month with consignment $.
Here is my typical FL lounge (I am wearing pic 1 this morning).

Susie that looks great! !
Mo I love a long skirt and a knit sundress for loungewear too

Mo, they look perfect for FL- colorful, cool and comfy!

Susie, love your capsule!

I'm starting my loungewear search by looking for less-hideous clogs or sandal with clog-like underpinnings. If I stand barefoot or in flat shoes on hard floors for too long, my lower back seizes up. So first, sturdy lounge shoes. Sounds like a contradiction.

Amy, I think that's a great idea. When we first moved into our house 7 years ago, I was not used to so many hard surface floors, especially the tile in the kitchen. After standing for practically a whole weekend unpacking, my back definitely hurt. I went and bought a pair of Croc flip flops- which I still have and wear!- because of the comfy padding.
