Okay, so I'm trying to decide if I really need some lace up boots.

Currently I have (not including items in the selling/donating pile):

Frye Campus boots, brown pull-on
Black wedge zip boots (very sleek looking)
Doc boots - mid-calf 3" heel in natural color suede (I don't wear these often but they are special to me)
Docs, mid-calf, zip-up teal

I really want a pair of knee-high or near knee-high lace-ups with a low heel. They are totally my style and I suspect would get a lot of everyday wear. But do I 'need' them?

What does your boot wardrobe look like?

My boot wardrobe looks meagre:

Dark brown ankle zipped boots - medium heel
Brown tall boots (pull on) - low heel
Black tall boots (zipped) - low heel

I wear all of these a lot but my black low heel boots that I bought last autumn have been revelatory as they felt so fabulous and have been 8hour boots no question.

I was very keen to buy some Doc Martens at one point too, which had the laces and were also waterproof.

So, yes I'd definitely see a point to you buying a pair of low heeled black boots. Especially in the work you do. But have you considered the Aquatalia (?) ones in NAS that everyone is raving about instead of laced ones...?

I just started my boot wardrobe last fall and bought a pair of simple black boots with a low heel. I wore them constantly during fall and winter and I would love to get another pair this fall. But I'm on a small budget and I'm not sure yet if I don't rather want some ankle booties instead. I say if they would totally be your style and you really want them (and have the money), go and get them! It sounds like they would be different stylewise to the boots you already have. Do you have an idea about the color?

Umm... my boot wardrobe is pretty large, but then I prefer boots to regular shoes.

Casual:

brown combat
black moto
brown suede loggers
black wedge lace-up Docs

Dress:
burgundy mid calf slouch
black mid calf sleek
black platform knee high
cognac knee high
brown knee high
tan buckled knee high

From what I know of your style, I'm pretty surprised that you don't have some lace-ups. I think they just might be a need for you.

I'm looking at a pair of dark grey Miz Mooz that I found at an excellent price.

Thunalata, I already own a pair of black, waterproof zip ups that I adore. They are my "fancy" boots that I wear to dog shows and such, but not for work.The Aquatalia boots are way, way out of my price range. (My Frye's were a gift)

Ah, sorry, hadn't even looked at the price... I'm in the UK and wouldn't be buying from NAS anyway, so haven't checked practical details like that!

Yes, you need them. I see a gap in your boot wardrobe!

I have 2 tall boots, cognac and black. 1 more tall black boot on order (the pair Angie recommended) because my current pair of black boots don't fit my calves properly. I could probably use a shorter boot to wear under pants, but waiting on this for now.

I believe you should have as many boots as your SO can possibly tolerate without tripping over them. That is my belief.

I have a pair of black riding boots and a pair of more casual/sport like/relaxed black boots. I have also a pair of military booties (they get to mid-calf) and a oaiir of brown quite high-heeled brown booties (also lace-up). I fell in love with a pair of rich brown riding boots with lace-up detail yesterday, and I'm dreaming about them right now. All I see are different outfits with a pair of boots that probably don't even fit me. So, to answer your question, yes, I'll let you buy another pair

Two boot posts in one day! Exciting.

I live in Vancouver, so basically the same climate as Seattle, and this is my boot list (which I feel is complete, but I never say no to adding to it if I fall in love with a new pair), in order of how often I wear them:

navy blue Hunter wellies (not the height of style, but it rains all the damn time here)
brown Fluevog Radio BBC (flat lace-up ankle boots)
black Fluevog Babycakes (mid-calf, sturdy 3" heel; have buttons and look Victorian)
gray Fluevog Operetta Giulias (ankle booties with 2.5" stacked heel)
wine red Operetta Giulias (same as gray ones)
white Tsubo knee-high flats with rubber sole
green and navy houndstooth/suede Converse (mid-calf, lace-up with inside zip)
dark brown suede Rocket dog boots (like Uggs but cuter, with one-inch platform)
black Fluevog Libby Smiths (mid-calf; narrow 2.75" heel; have red buttons -- love these and save them for evenings out)
tan Fluevog Bethsaidas (peep-toe ankle boots; very cute but limited wearing opportunities where I live!)
sand-coloured Ugg boots (mostly worn as slippers)
white Ilse Jacobssen lace-up wellies (not sure why I rarely wear these)

So, as you can probably guess, my vote is yay for the lace-up boots. You don't really have very many boots, and if you really want some lace-ups, then go for it!
