Yes. Let's discuss this I was actually going to start a post about colour , but here you are !
I have been thinking about all of this red from NAS, and I really , really like it. But I don't like wearing red, decorating with red, or even having red flowers. I don't wear red lipstick either. I love that VB jacket, for example, but there is no way I could wear it authentically. I was trying to figure this out today - when I should have been using my brain for more important things , like my job , lol - and had a bit of a epiphany .
Red demands a certain type of personality , and a LOT of it at that, and that is just not who I am.
To me, red suits a wearer who has a vibrant and happy personality, who is extroverted (mostly) and "out there" . A high-energy , attention seeker. That kind of thing. And of course, I had to acknowledge that I am none of those things. I have a very strong personality but I'm not loud , not the centre of attention, vibrant , and don't thrown out a "happy" energy (which sounds worse than I mean it to) . I don't need nor want to communicate POWER, and don't need my clothes to enter the room ahead of me, the way bright colours and red can. It simply is a mismatch with my personality and my own energy level. I enjoy a strong colour, but not bright, and not hyper intense. And when you mix red into a pattern/plaid like in the VB jacket, it nearly makes me want to put my sunglasses on. It's sensory overload. I think this is why I just can't feel authentic and comfortable in red.
I have a beautiful red military blazer from BR (Suz has it also, and that's exactly who SHOULD own it, lol) that I have worn exactly once - and got a million compliments on. I was so confused. I wrapped my bl/wh McQ scarf around my neck and wore it with black trousers and boots. The colour works with my colouring, but I still felt weird and too "out there" with it on.
Anyways - I get that red is trending and looks so fresh right now, but I'm not sure spending any money on it makes any sense for me. It's too much .
p.s. this all holds true for colours like purple , fuchsia and cobalt. No can do.
