Layering: Does this work?ETA for my birthday

I'm in a hurry, leaving for a dinner "date" with my husband and some friends in a few minutes. I've layered a turtleneck under a shift dress - what do you ladies think? Is this good or bad - I feel insecure about this!

ETA: The occation was my birthday, and I felt very good about my outfit thanks to you! After dinner I removed the turtleneck since the bar I was in was rather hot. That's a no-brainer, of course.

It looks nice but maybe more of a "for work" than for a "date" kind of look (to me at least). If it's cold and you need the warmth I understand. But I'd say Nay if it's not too cold and it's a real date.

Ingunn - first of all, you look terrific!

Second, I think if the temps are cool, this does work, although I prefer it with the jacket on as well. I think that is because (on my monitor at least) the colours are fighting a bit. WIth just the pop of colour at the neck, it picks up your bag and seems to tone in with the booties better, somehow. WIth jacket off, I feel too much of the magenta or something...

However, the basic idea is great! And those booties are so fab on you.

Thanks, both of you! It is going to get chilly during the evening, and I need a layer of some kind. I guess Norway is different from the US in many ways, one of them being that we dress up (more formally) for going out, and are pretty casual at work. I'm having dinner with my husband and a couple of friends. Nothing is formal about this date, and I felt that the turtle neck make the outfit less dressy. Am I right?

If you need it to keep warm (and you are already married to the guy, lol!) I think this totally works. Have a wonderful time. You look great, and I love the hose and booties.
