Agreeing with you that something with less rise will be more flattering. You have a short rise (or waist, or whatever)!

Agree with the majority above... next!

You'll find the right ones, these just aren't them.

Before you rule them out entirely...I would say that camera angle may be tricking our eyes a bit here, emphasizing (that is, vastly exaggerating) the short torso effect. I do think these might be tough to wear but I also suspect they flatter you more than it might appear.

You took the words out of my mouth, Suz. Take your daughter to a maternity ward and remind her what pregnancy looks like, because you look the opposite of that!

Another pair? I ordered the Reitmans ones too. This is a mission now! DD was actually really disappointed that I returned the first pair lol. There's no pleasing some folks *facepalm* ... So o may try them again if some of these other ones don't work. Gap, HM, Zara ... All no gos.

Thank you ALL so much ... Learned so much from this experiment if nothing else!

Oh I like these!

They're less dramatic for sure but so wearable. I like them with the stripey top and sneaks! Much more "Casual Kate" than the first pair.

Thanks Sarah! I'll keep them in mind if the Reitman's ones don't work out - they are a little pricey at $124 - more than I'd like to put into test-driving a trend (although at BR so I'll keep my eye out for the inevitable sale).

I like these too! I would definitely do a half-tuck. (I think I just figured out the ideal half-tuck. Leave the shirt out, zip the pants, then grab the front of the shirt and just jam it in there. I used to tuck the whole thing and then untuck the back, and it definitely veered into trying-too-hard-to-make-it-work territory.)

GOOD JOB TRYING SOMETHING NEW, Helena

I like the idea of the first pair, but those are not the ones. Too high and wide. I don't mind the tie at all. But you need something lower and sleeker.

The second pair is much better! But do you need a size down?

Tell hubs you are being MEGA trendy!

Angie, I wondered if I needed a size down ... I'll try the BR ones is a smaller size and see how the Reitmans ones go too. And thanks - wide legs have not hit my town yet, so I'll be downright avant-garde hehehe I did try the Gap ones you have recommended, and they were pretty good too, but a little more casual than I want - I'm hoping for a dress-up/dress-down style. Thanks so much for weighing in!

Lesley, for sure - this top was not right for these ... I should have worn my white one to the mall today ... I like the semi-tuck idea too!

Kate wore a pair of wide crops to open her garden at Chelsea ,haven’t got time to find a photo at the moment but might be worth a look fo inspiration.l m really pleased to see you trying a new silhouette, good on you!

The second ones look fab - and I saw Kate in crops and she looked good didn’t she.

Following your quest and glad you are still searching. Agree with the short torso concerns with the first pair. You have such a great figure, no sense in wearing something that hits wrong. Happy hunting!

The second pair from Reitmans are MUCH better. You look great! I have some cropped wide leg jeans I bought about 2 weeks ago and now can't bring myself to wear them. They fit perfectly, but I feel so huge in them ! Too late to return now, so I have to persevere.....

Yep, I like the Reitmans more too! Keep

Thanks guys, the second photo are actually BR; I had to get the Reitmans near me to order their ones in so should get them next week ... Apparently they've been selling well downtown so hopefully that's a good sign!
Lisa, I'm hoping my eye will adjust ... We shall see ... It's definitely a very dramatic change ...

This is a great example of why I love YLF! Thanks for your willingness to take a risk and try something new and use the feedback to help find the right version.

I really like the second pair. They work with your ‘regular’ style as
I see it. I have two pairs of wide legs (full length) and I still like them only as a switch up from my normal routine, so once in a while and typically with the same one or two tops. So it doesn’t have to be either a mistake or the herald of a new style season

I bought a very inexpensive version of this style of pant from Joe Fresh. Although they are outside my comfort zone I’m in love with them. To be honest I’ve only worn them around the house so far as I gather the courage to wear them in public.

I am nodding with Cardiff Girl on Kate having worn a pair to Chelsea Flower Show last week (Maasimo Dutti apparently, and they looked super).

I like the look, and look forward to seeing how you perfect it.
