K/R - Huge Zara order - part 1 - fun items

I ordered 11 items from Zara. It is combination of some top picks and some random items that I ordered just for fun. I would appreciate your honest feedback.
I am starting with this fun top that I ordered because I like the pattern, but not sure if the shape is appropriate for 53 years old me. And this eyelet midi skirt, that I still haven’t figured out if the zipper is going in the back or on the side. Top is S and skirt is M.
Top is really short on my long waist torso. You can see too much skin when worn with jeans. I have to try it with some other higher waist bottoms.

Anchie, such cool pieces! You mentioned the shortness of the top and I love the idea of an ultra-high-rise to solve that issue. I remember you also wanting to fill in the neckline on another deep v-neck - for your comfort, is there a way to do that with this one?

I like the top with the jeans more, cause the texture of the skirt makes it ALGO. Agreeing about the low v of the top though. If you'd want to fill it in you'd need something cropped like a bandeau.

April - I am honestly surprised that I don’t mind the v-neck, I think it is because it is secured in place while the other v-necks that I have need to be adjusted all the time and when I bend they don’t stay in place.

I think the skirt looks fab on you! Great length and the fit is nice.

The top is cute and looks like it fits well, but doesn’t seem to jibe with the sophisticated style we’ve seen you build for yourself. It just seems a little bare and young with that cropped length, unless you’re going for resort wear. I always keep in mind too that anything with a smocked hem like that is going to shift and ride up as you move, which always feels fussy to me. Raise your arms and all of a sudden the hem hikes up to the bra line. YMMV of course.

suntiger- I am not really planning to wear top and skirt together, so consider them please separately. Top is very summery, so not sure that filling v will work.

Janet - yes, that is my fear that top is too young looking, But on the other hand, I take a month vacation every summer and I always struggle with what to wear, my office wardrobe doesn’t really work for that. But I will try the top again to see how much it rides up.

I feel the same way as Janet, I think the skirt is fine but this top seems too baring and the smock hem looks like it could ride up even more.

It looks good on you, I just wonder how comfortable it is at such a cropped length, but I think you’ll have a better idea of that when you try it on with higher-waisted bottoms. I’d do a movement test in it — sit, stand, reach, bend — and see if it rides up. If you’re not fidgeting it down and don’t mind flashing a little midriff (which I totally support!) then it’s all good! I’d also be worried about it shrinking in the wash since Zara fabrics are sometimes unpredictable that way. Just being the voice of practicality since you are very choosy about what joins your wardrobe.

I like the skirt! I had an eyelet skirt years ago (a knee-length one) and I always loved wearing it. It's an interesting fabric that doesn't always play well with others so it wasn't always easy to find tops to go with it. So I'd say make sure you try it with your existing tops and see if it is versatile enough for you. I remember I had 2 or 3 tops that went with the skirt and constantly rotated them.

For the top, I like it! I like the colors, it is fun! Besides, it fits you amazingly well, you look really good in it. Would I wear it myself? No. But if you are ok with wearing 2 weeks out of the year on vacation and if it makes you happy, I say go for it. Also,

I think you should take into account that there will always be some skin showing with this top, no matter how high the bottoms are. It is designed that way.

Another vote for the skirt! It's cotton and great for HOT weather! Pretty

The top fits absolutely perfectly! You wear V-necks well. The length is a personal decision. Wear it around the house a bit with the bottoms you have in mind. Assess whether the length works, and doesn't feel too naked or fussy. If you're good - keep and enjoy!

ETA:

Btw, did the top come with matching patterned bottoms? If so, maybe try them if you like them.

Personally, I prefer the top with the skirt than the jeans.

Must admit, I can’t imagine when you’d really want to wear the top. I think of you as having a sharper look, Anchie.

Fun pieces! The top is cute and a great vacation piece. If you feel comfortable in it! Sometimes we just need a shot of fun in our wardrobe.

I think I made decision here. Top is going back. It is just too short. When I raise my hands, bra gets exposed. But I am keeping the skirt. Out of everything I ordered, very unexpectedly, I like skirt the best. It fits perfectly and seems like a nice quality. it is lined, 100% cotton. Not see through. I think I can wear it with denim jacket and sneakers, but also with sandals and nice blouse. Versatile.

I am grateful for the skirt review -- am considering Zara order and this looks like a useful item.

Colours of top were/ are gorgeous but I get the fit issues....

Late here, but agreed with your decision. The skirt is gorgeous and glad you are keeping it. The top would need a very high waisted bottom, s if you don't wear those, good thing you are sending it back.

Both look great on you. Crop is a question of how you feel rather than age in my opinion. But of course how we feel is affected by society's perception...
