K/R French Connection Clutch - YouLookFab Forum

It came! It had me at the black and white grid pattern (plus cobalt zipper!!!!)

I'm finding a number of negatives and could use help deciding on keeping.

Con:

Clutch is shiny and feels plasticky
Strap is like a nylon webbing/ribbon
Seems big for a clutch
Looks odd worn on one shoulder, pic 3 (my preferred mode)
Though background is black, it reads light, and we are heading into winter

Pro:

Looks good worn as a clutch, pic 1
Ditto worn crossbody, pic 2, useful for casual looks
Colors are perfect for my wardrobe
The graphic integrity is something I'm really wanting in my wardrobe
I really like it
Not too expensive

Questions:

How does it look? The dress is what I happened to have on.

Do you have thoughts on any of the cons? Do any of them seem important objections, or do they seem answerable?

What about the pros?

I can't see the shiny in the picture and it looks great in #1 and #2 as you mentioned. Don't love it on one shoulder. Does all your stuff fit in it?

Shevia, I can indeed easily fit makeup bag, sunglasses, notebook, pen, phone, tissues, card case, and money clip into it while preserving the shape of the bag. I have honed my clutch-packing skills in the last few months!

I like the way it looks in the first two pics. The only con that would matter to me is the plasticky feel, but I'm a tactile person. Does it matter to you that you can't wear it in your preferred mode?

I love 1 and 2 but if you feel the quality is poor (that doesn't show on the picture) pass.

You can fit a notebook in these? Are we talking a notepad or a tablet/netbook? So props for your packing skills if you can fit a tablet into a clutch!!!!

It is visually too big for a clutch - unless that is a style trend where you stay / work / play etc or a look you are going for.

It seems to work only when worn cross - body imho, the question would now be: would such a purse style work across the clothes / capsules you normally wear. If yes, I would go for it.

Jurocha, I meant a tiny paper notebook! Although it would fit my kindle easily. In fact DD said it looked like a nice laptop case.

Tanveer and Astrid, I agree it works best crossbody, and that's not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for a sophisticated pop of pattern to wear with business casual or smart casual.

Rute and Astrid, the quality does bother me, though if the other factors were right, I'd probably keep.

So glad for the K/R opportunity! In the old days I would have kept it and probably had an orphan.

Sounds like you have made your decision. It sounds like the right one to me. The quality alone would be a deal breaker, but all the other factors combined really push it over. Keep looking. The right one is out there!
