K/R Eileen wide leg crops?

I was at the Rack and found these deliciously comfortable EF cropped pants marked down to $20! They are viscose jersey and we're regularly $138. However, they seem to hit me at the worst possible (widest part of my stomach/hips) spot. And I am not sure what I would wear with them? Keep or return? If keep how to style? Thank you!

Do you have a cropped top or welted top that would skim over the stomach part you're not comfortable showing, and would cover the pants' elastic?

How does it feel, this elastic? I ask because they never work for me. Either they feel good but the trousers slide down. Or the trousers stay put but the elastic is constricting.

If they feel good I would keep them because they sure do look good. As SL suggested, a shorter top that would hide the elastic would be perfect.

Can you try them with a cropped length slightly boxy top that just covers the waistband? I seem to recall a recent post by Angie showing this look.

Play with them a bit, but if you don't think you would reach for them, they should go back. For what it's worth, I like them.

They look good but if they are destined to be orphans then back they go.

I like others suggestions of a cropped or welted top.

I like them on you, and I think they would look good with a short welted or boxy top, as Skylurker suggested. And it sounds like they are super comfy, so I would say wear them and enjoy them!
But I will also say that perhaps a style that doesn't have as much fullness at the top would be even better. I've found that to be the case for me personally; if I'm going to wear a cropped pant, I prefer it to fit more smoothly at the top. Whether it's actually more flattering or not, I feel as if it flatters me more.

Thank you all for your help! I actually don't know what a welted top is, can anyone help me there? I found two shirts that I thought might almost qualify as cropped...what do you think?

Yes! Both those tops are perfect. I adore the spotty one. Nearly all my pants have stretchy elastic waists which I just cover over. None are wide like those and so I wear longer tops, but for the wider pants you need shorter tops. I think welt means a band at the bottom of the top, check Angie's blog post recently about knitwear I think?

You look great in all the pictures. My favourites are the ones with the polkadot top.

I agree with Jenni NZ: If you don't like the elastic waist, just cover over.

Melaine, I think these look great on you! Although both look good, I especially like the gold/blue/black top with them. Maybe because it looks "arty" to my eye (which is my particular style...:)

I'm wearing my EF black silk crops today with a floaty coral top. I love them! So comfortable and breezy in hot weather.

That said, I agree with what others have said: if you feel great in them, keep them. If not, pass them on.

So glad that you are keeping the pants. #9 is a welted bottom. I love your stylings here, especially 5, 6 & 9.

It looks like you have a wide range of tops to match with those pants. I think #5 and 7 are my favorites. Your smile in #9 lights up the whole picture, though, so that one's also my favorite.

I think they look great on you. About tops, I like how you styled them in picture 2 of the first bach, and 5, 6, and 9 of the second bach.

Wow, you've definitely got the hang of it (styling these pants)! I especially like 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9. Also both tops in the previous pictures (polka dots and gold-blue-black). These pants look like keepers to me--I think you've found your cropped wide-leg pants.
