K/R: Eileen Fisher dress & cardi. ETA frontal views

I found this dress on sale at Nordstroms Half Yearly Sale and decided to try it and same color (sapphire) linen cardi. The dress got rave reviews and doesn't wrinkle for travel, a big plus. I love the color and length but was not sure about the lantern shape.
Does the shape work on me? How do you like the linen cardi with it? The colors blend rather than match due to the different fabrics used. Do you think they work? DH and BF gave both thumbs up but I'd like this to be at least a 9. I'll wear it as smart casual, not dressy.

J/K I'm guessing you meant something else by that? I wonder if a straight on pic could help assess the shape of the dress better...

I love it on you. Colouration and cut are beautiful. Cardigan is a perfect m atch but I would love to see it styled with a kimono or floral blazer. Nice shoes.

Nichole, I'll have to try my kimono style jackets but am very tempted to order from Zara if the dress gets approval, although matching blues is tricky.

I love the dress on you - it's a great shape and wonderful colour. Keep! I like the cardi too. Its a nice versatile piece that you could wear with other outfits eg, white jeans and a tee. Now that you've mentioned a kimono topper for the dress I'd love to see that too.

The dress is gorgeous on you (and tempting to me). I think the cardi will be useful, too. Thumbs up! And why does it not surprise me that an elegant eclectic like you can somehow manage to keep her DH happy despite also having a BF? (only teasing)

I think this totally works. I was worried at first reading your post that there would be too much EF going on, but the dress, while flowy, is not overwhelming you at all. Great color.

Finally able to get back to this thread, I'm so glad that the dress and cardi are keepers. I'll be shopping my closet for other possible toppers to show you but have found that either cropped or drapey seem to look best to my eye.
Suz, you may want to try this dress. From the comments on the site, it seems a perennial favorite in different colors. The fabric is substantial and washable and drapes well. The neckline is high front and back and arm holes high enough to be slimming and give coverage where needed.
My hesitation is that I'd ruled out drapey knits for lack of structure but the close fit on top seems to proved some. The dress provides a little arty drama but just a little.
Thank you all for looking and commenting. I hope DH doesn't read this and find out about the bf thanks also, Mia and Krishnidoux, for the boost about my arms, an area I'm especially sensitive about. They aren't what they once were.
