K/R - More dresses - YouLookFab Forum

Here are two more dresses I ordered. I have a third one coming (floral print in Finds) but's it's not here yet. Both of these fit fine. I'm wearing them with sandals here but will probably wear boots/tights. The party is in Seattle in October at the Seattle Aquarium. Our hotel is only a couple blocks away so we'll probably walk there (unless the weather is terrible) so I won't be wearing shoes with a significant heel.

#1-4 - Laser cut pattern. I love the laser cut detail and the fit but I'm not sure about the sleeves. If I cross my arms, I think the sleeves look bizarre. I also took a picture as if I'm holding a drink (since this will be a party) at DH's suggestion. I look goofy because DH was making me laugh.

#5-8 - Polka dot dress with sleeves but they aren't as dramatic.

What do you all think? I'm still undecided. My sister and a friend definitely prefer the first one and think I'm being weird about the sleeves.

I LOVE the first dress on you, the sleeves are fabulous in all the pictures. The second dress is very nice, but pales in comparison.

They’re both gorgeous! Hard to choose. To me the first looks more special occasion, and the second just slightly more low key, if that’s any help at all. However presumably the less formal one may have more chance of getting worn again more frequently I suppose.

I think the first dress is cool and very dramatic. The designer used a contrasting color in the inside of the sleeves to create the Wow factor.

You look great in both dresses. The question is whether you want the Wow.

I love the laser cut print and fit, and the sleeves scream party-tactic. But I have been doing a major dress hunt as well, and I personally have decided I need a bit less exuberance for practical reasons. I don't love high contrast lining when it shows so much, it seems to take away from the sleekness that I want in an LBD. I tried on a number of dresses like this that I really liked and strongly considered seeing if I could tailor the sleeves to my taste and practicality level - but then it is a different dress. Can't wait to see number 3.

I like the polkadot one better. I know it's less showy, but I think it suits you very well. The neckline is good on you, and the fabric is a little understated. I bet you will feel very comfortable in this dress.

They both look great, but the first one makes more of a statement. I don't think the sleeves look weird, but you do notice them. So the question is whether you feel like you're "wearing the outfit, or it's wearing you." If you're absolutely uncomfortable, go for the second, but I think the first is a wow.

So smart to pose in cocktail-holding position! That first dress is special, and you can totally pull it off. I also like the 2nd one a lot, so I think you should pick the one that makes you feel confident and fab, so you don't give a moment's thought to what you are wearing (other than to say "thank you" to the compliments) and spend your time and energy enjoying the party.

I think you should go with the one that feels the most “you.” Both look great, but you should wear something that you can throw on and forget so that you enjoy yourself. Sounds like a fun party!

I live the pattern on the former and the sleeve on the latter. I wonder how wearable such a dramatic sleeve would be next season so I’m voting polka dot for fun and longevity.

I could also be persuaded for the other in the name of party outfit drama and memorable ness.

I like both dresses very much (and am hoping the floral fits....that is a gorgeous dress)! I think the big sleeves look great and are fitting for a party. I think the question is whether or not they will bother you during the party.

I think the neckline of the first dress suits you better than the neckline of the second dress. The first is also more dramatic. I like the sleeves.
But I want to see the floral dress (of course).

I'm not even looking at the other responses first. They both look really nice on you, but the first is more WOW. I love the sleeves and don't think they look odd at all -- just dramatic! Perfect for a party.

I slightly prefer #2. I too find the light color on the lining of the sleeves a bit distracting. I'd also be the type to drag the sleeve in dip at the refreshments table!

I like the sheer detail on the sleeves in #2.

The first one! I would be perfectly happy with the second one, but given that the photos are in this order, the more dramatic dress just makes the second look not-as-special.

I think I need to wear the first one around the house for awhile and see if the sleeves bother me. I just did a quick try on for these pics to see if the dress fit. I think it's more dramatic than the second one. The polka dot dress is definitely more practical but the polka dots are still fun and it does have some detail on the sleeves. I should probably figure out if I have a coat that will fit over the dramatic sleeves.

Nr 1 is a winner(dramatic sleeves!!yeay!!) nr 2 is a bit shy in comparison, but the wallpaper printed one could be a good contender, too!:-)

I love the first one too but you need to feel good in it. Do the sleeves flap around in motion in a way that might remind you of them at the party? It shouldn’t matter if you decide you totally love the dress and just own that look amazing, in a bolder way than you might be used to.
I went to an evening work party recently wearing tighter pants and a more fitted shirt than I’m totally comfortable with and literally found myself saying aloud in the mirror ‘just own it’ - it worked

I don’t think the first dress looks bizarre with crossed arms at all. I do find it a bit short. Maybe better with hose.
