K/R - green wool sweater

The green wool sweater I ordered arrived and I really like it! It's less boxy than I thought and the sleeves are just the right lenght (many reviews said they were too short). It's a tiny bit itchy on bare skin, but I'm sensitive that way. It's alright with something layered under it. The only thing is that the green is much darker than I thought, kind of mossy looking. I'm not sure if I shouldn't better exchange it for the Blueberry or a Blue...

What do you think? I know it looks fine with the flash, but I added another picture in natural light and without flash so that you can see the color better. (Please excuse the horrible 'I'm taking pictures of myself without a tripod' look.)

I love this sweater on you Astrid! The fit is excellent and I quite like the rich dark colour.

It's really pretty! I also love the color - is that the bottle green? I think a blue would look great as well - a brighter blue could be striking, but I think it depends on how bold or subtle you want to go. The sweater itself seems like a keeper!

Thanks Shannon! I agree, the fit is great. It's XS, the smallest size available - and I'm normally not wearing my tops that small. So for someone who's thinner this might be truly too boxy.

Thanks Preppy Pear! It's the bottle green, yes. The royal blue for example might be a bit bright, but if the color really resembles the pictures the lilac could look great. I had a tee in that color that I loved on me.

I think the sweater looks great on you. While I think the green is really pretty, if you think another color would work better, than I would exchange it. You know the fit is fine, now it's just deciding on what color you think would work best for you.

Great color, nice, basic shape. I think this color in particular is extremely pretty on you, so I'd keep this one. This will make a great layer piece!

Thanks Sara and Jenava! You all like the color and I like it too - it just wasn't what I was expecting after seeing the online store pictures. Maybe my screen colors are off. It's definitely a warmer green than it looks, it goes well with the warm burgundy/rost red of the one plaid skirt, but doesn't work with the cool green in the other plaid. I was hoping it would turn out more like that cool green. It definitely goes with denim and black though.

It looks pretty on you from the photos, but it is so hard to tell! Your instincts will serve you right. If it works with enough of your wardrobe, then keep; if not exchange for a different colour.

Thanks Suz! You're right, I guess I have to decide in the end. I think I'm going to keep it, it goes with all of my jeans, my black pants and my blue cords. It also looks great with the red plaid skirt, although it might be too long to wear it with the skirt, I haven't tried it yet. Returns to UK are such a hassle and since it was only 30€ it's okay if it doesn't work with everything.

This is the perfect dark green to my eye - not too pine, not too olive. You can see the color more in the close-up. A warm, wintery, woddsy look. Blue would be lovely too but this is so pretty!

Keep it Astrid! That shade of green is perfect on you. The pic you did in daylight really shows how it flatters your fair skin and strawberry blond/red hair.

And it looks to me like a perfect loden green. Your style to me always has a bit of Austrian element (small florals on dark grounds, dirndl-like skirts, boiled-wool type jackets, climbable boots or oxfords) at least what I pictured as Austrian style when I read about Austrian designers way back when I was your age, though clearly I have next to no clue. But it sort of strikes me as though it could be a Euro-classic equivalent of the Ivy league (US) or Sloane ranger (UK) classic style that you are riffing off of, and I think it's part of why you can pull together what to a North American eye like really disparate elements, and it not only looks like you, but it l;ooks like it all belongs together organically. Am I making any sense? This is what I was getting at when I called you Euro Prairie.

Thanks L'Abeille! I've had to look up Ivy League and Sloane Ranger Style (shows what I know!), but I think you may be right. It's funny that you thought of Austrian style though, although I can see where you're coming from. It's a bit like a traditional costume with modern everyday clothes... I really like the term 'Euro Prairie' by the way, it's one that's quite catchy and it seems to fit better than most other possible 'style statements' that were discussed in the past.
