I picked up these two jackets in an attempt to match my mint dress after learning what colors the mint would match. I found this jacket recommend by Angie, so I thought I would give it a try.

I like it better open in both colors, although I think the lavender might look better as the coral seems to overwhelm the mint. The jackets might be too long for the dress, but after trying them on and appreciating their great construction and colors for spring, I am thinking of keeping them to pair with other items for Spring/Summer.

What are your thoughts?

I think both colors are pretty, but I feel like the lavender is looking prettier and more on-trend with the pastels that are going strong this Spring.
I am personally not really feeling the shape of the jackets with the dress. Somehow it is juxtaposed in style, but not in a way that is working for me. Can we see them with some of your other frocks to see how they would work with other wardrobe items. I quite like the way the lavender makes your complexion look.

The lavender is beautiful. I agree with you that the coral is overwhelming but the lavender really works I like it closed better because it highlights your narrow waistline. I think the same effect could be achieved with a dark green or purple skinny belt at your waist with the jacket open. I also love the detail on your point-toe flats. This is a gorgeous look for you. I like the lavender jacket with the mint dress. How do you feel about the sleeve length?

The sleeves are a bit long, but I think they will scrunch well. Once I find a tailor, I could have them shortened. Still in search of a good tailor.

Generally, shortening sleeve length is so easy an alteration that any tailor associated with a dry cleaner can do it successfully. If the sleeve end has a (usually) faux buttonable look, then keeping that look isn't always possible because there isn't extra fabric inside to create that
"opening." In that case, what I usually do is just remove the buttons and sew the placket shut, creating a new shorter plain sleeve end. That's not much work, either.

I like the lavender best with the mint, but both jackets ae nice on you. I think you're right though, they may be a bit long for the dress. They could work well with other pieces though.

I like the lavender jacket best with the colour of the dress (which looks amazing on you BTW). I also like the coral jacket, but with something different. The jacket may be a bit long for the dress but I'm no expert in this area so that leave to others.

I like both jackets but I think they are too long for the dress. The dress is beautiful, and I think it looks great without a jacket at all. Altering the sleeve length is very easy - you could do it yourself, really!

Have we seen this dress before? It is so lovely on you both the colour and fit of the dress. I think the jackets are good on their own but this dress shines bright on its own.
I like both colours of jackets on you and think these are a great addition to your spring wardrobe.

I loved the mint dress, and so did DH so I never did a keep/ return on it.

I feel like mint looks good on me, so I am embracing that as a spring color for me. I think I am going to keep these jacket, but keep looking for a cropped jacket or shrug as well. I think a shorter topper would play better with the proportions. I really want the topper for Air Conditioning. It'll be 95 outside but 65 inside!

It sounds like you are keeping both jackets to play with. Sounds like a plan to me! I agree they are on the long side with the dress, but I think Day Vies is onto something -- if you put a belt on, the proportions might change a bit even with the jacket on and open. Might be worth trying. And in the meantime you can keep looking for more cropped options, as well. I always find it frustrating that oftentimes we need different toppers with skirts/ dresses. But there's not much we can do about that, I guess.

I actually like both of the colors with the mint. The lavender keeps the overall look soft, feminine, and trendy and then the bright one looks powerful and sassy. A cropped jacket sounds great, too!

Hi Thistle - I think the pink is too bland but the coral is too bold. I was wondering if you had thought of looking for a medium violet shade. I saw that colour on a macaroon(Lol!) in a shop today - it was sitting next to a minty coloured macaroon and the combination was great!

The sleeves of the coral jacket are a bit long but I like both colors of jacket with the dress. The coral one makes me think if a tiger lily and the lavender one is so pretty. The proportions look best if closed to me, but maybe try a belt as Day Vies said because the dress and your waist are too pretty to cover up.

You look great in dresses but you also wear jackets very well. I like both colors with a slight preference for the orange.

Both jackets fit you well. I love the mint/purple combination. I agree that they are a smidge too long with the dress. I think a more cropped jacket/sweater would be better. You are getting some fab new pieces, Thistle. It's fun watching your style journey

I am so jealous of your awesome dress collection. I agree with most here in that I like the jackets, but not necessarily with this dress. I'd do cropped jacket or cardi with it.

KILLER frock and jackets!

I like both colours with the mint, bright and pastel. My question is what shoes will you wear with this look. You need lighter shoes. Then we can narrow down the jackets by assessing how they play with the rest of your wardrobe.

Caught! After I get my jean capsule sorted, I need to concentrate on shoes. I have to buy quality ones because of my fussy feet. And my Wolkies among others are being saved should we add to our family, but they are not in line with my style goals. So, shoes and jeans are about to eat a huge chunk of my clothing budget!

I love the two blazers just not with the dress. I am not sure why, but I never seem to be able to pull off a dress of a stiff fabric like this one, with a blazer together. It is almost as if there is too much stiffness. I pop a light cotton cardi, which are total workhorses and staples of my summer wardrobe. You can take them off once you leave your office and pop them on those frigid AC rooms.

The lavender is on trend, but the apricot REALLY makes you look great. It plays with your natural colouring and makes your whole face look brighter. Both are great to keep, but I am also glad to hear you will continue to search for a slightly shorter topper to go with the dress. Great buys!

I actually like the coral best, but I *love* coral and the bright color is so much fun The lavender is really nice to - very feminine and on trend with the pastels for spring. The dress is wonderful! I'd love to see all your gorgeous dresses at once

The dress is gorgeous on you and I like it best without a jacket. I think a cardi or a knit jacket would work well with it. That said, I think the blazers are great on you, wonderful fit and colours. Perfect for spring and summer, and mixable with many wardrobe items. I think keep them both!
