Keep or Return: Gibson Riding Jacket

I loved how this looked on Sveta and Brenda, so wanted to try this out myself. What do you think? I also tried the smaller size, but couldn't move my arms in it.

Is this style only meant to be paired with skinny pants? If so, I may have a problem, since I don't have nay of those that I feel comfortable in.

Amy - I think the jacket looks nice on you and I have no reason to believe that you couldn't pair this with troucers or another style of jeans.

I like this style for you, Amy, but this size does look quite roomy in the back.
I think a jacket like this looks wonderful with straight-legged jeans and trousers too, bootcuts, pencil skirts, a sheath dress...

Amy, how do you feel about the bagginess around the waist in the back? It looks a little off to me. But maybe it's just the photo?
The jacket could work with a longer pencil skirt, I think.

Amy, I think this one is too big for you! To my mind, the beauty of a riding jacket is the closeness of fit, and this one looks loose at the the back. Maybe this particular one is cut wrong for you. I have worn a riding jacket with skirts, and I think they look good, so I don't think the "no skinnies" policy is a deal-breaker.

I also see it as being a bit roomy. I hope you find a better-fitting version--it looks like a totally versatile addition and you look particularly great in a classic piece like this!

I think it's too big. I had the same problem with this jacket and ended up returning it. By the time I got a size that fit in the body, I couldn't bend my arms. It's a poor design.... or a design for women with pencil-sized limbs.

But this jacket convinced me that I NEED a charcoal gray jacket. I just need to find the right one.

It's interesting that it looks great from the front but seems so roomy in the back. I think I'd hold off for something better - you have too good a figure to hide it!

Very interesting, Brenda! It works on Sveta and she doesn't have pencil sized arms by any means! But it sounds as if it doesn't work on an IT body shape.

I do think some people are more accepting of some restriction in their arm movements than others. I cannot stand a jacket that feels constricting through the back area, but others don't seem to mind it.

Maybe Suz, but my problem wasn't in the shoulders but in the elbows. I could move my arms, but couldn't bend them if that makes sense.

I agree that it's not perfect enough for you but, on the issue of styling, I think any slim bottoms would be nice. Even bootcuts that are slim through the knee break might be good. I wear my similar jackets with sheaths and pencil skirts as well as skinnies.

Brenda, thanks for weighing in on this. I forgot that you had some fit concerns with this jacket. It's such a cute style, but just doesn't fit me or you right. Weird, huh?

i dont love the fit of this on you. but i do think you could wear it with bottoms other than skinnies.

Amy, are you looking for blazers/jackets specifically? I have one from express called "the hourglass" jacket that *might* work for you. It cuts in more around the waist than most normal blazers I've tried. It's fairly long, though. Not sure how you feel about that.

Amy, I think that you made a very good decision....I was trying to figure out if it could be tailored somehow, but that bunching in the back is just so weird. ( I don't like tight sleeves on clothes either ).
