I finally used the gift card I got for my birthday last month at Kohl's today.

#1- blue dress from my michelle- $15-
#2- brown and white polka dot skirt from heart soul -$15
#3- blue lace jacket from eyelash couture- $16
#4- striped top and belt from heart soul-$15

are these items flattering or should I return any of these?

I think the dress in #1, the skirt in #2 and the top in #4 are all perfect. The polka dot skirt is super cute. I think the outfit doesn't support the lace jacket and it is throwing me off.

Lace jacket: I am on the fence. I think the lines are very flattering. If it were me, I'd be bothered by the fact that you can see the pockets and facings (at least I think that's what I'm seeing) but perhaps that is just my own OCD tendencies and if it doesn't bother you, there is an argument to be made in favour of the facings being visible because that creates a long line.

Striped top and belt: I think these are good, too, but it's a bit hard to tell because you're cut off.

Denim dress: Not as crazy about this, but it's not bad, and if it fills a real need, then could be a deal at that price.

I am a rank newbie, so please take my thoughts with a grain of salt, and wait for more experienced voices!

dianthus- I agree that the outfit really does not work with the lace jacket I'm still playing with it to see how it works with what I have already.

If anyone has any ideas how to style any of these items please feel free to let me know.

Suz- the dress does fill a hole for me I don't have any solid blue dresses this dress is actually a jersey type material.

The skirt is SUPER flattering..keep for sure! I like the dress and think it is perfect for summer. The top in 4 looks cute too,but sadly, I do not care for the jacket. It appears that you can see the pockets and such which Suz mentioned, and I find it distracting. great finds!

I think #2, and #4 are definite keepers - and you could try them together for some fun pattern mixing! #1 has potential, but I'd return #3. It looks like you had a fun shopping trip!

1, 2 & 4 are great - love the polka dots especially! I have to agree with the others regarding the lace jacket. I actually looked at that same jacket at Kohl's myself. I like the idea of it, but wasn't sure how to style it, or what to do about the fact that the pockets & facing show through. So, I guess I'm no help there. You look great with your hair down! I think that whenever I see a pic with your hair down and want to be sure to tell you!

I really like the dress, the skirt, and the striped top. I can't really tell about the top with the skirt. I'll defer on the lace jacket since I've never done lace. Good haul!

Thank you everyone for your help! I've been playing with the jacket and I have to agree with everyone that the idea is great but everything I have come up with is just kind of so so. I also tried 2 and 4 together I'm new at pattern mixing what does everyone think do these 2 items mix okay or should I go with a top that is a solid color like the 2nd and 3rd pics?

Ooo Thank you Angie I really do love the jacket do you have any suggestions on how to style it I have tried with pants skirts and a dress was thinking maybe white pants and a tank with a print that has shades of blue.

Kitty, great shopping haul! I vote keep for all! I really like the lace jacket, too. The only thing that would deter me, like Suz, is if the facing was very obvious IRL. I know that these things are sometimes exaggerated by the flash. I like it so much that I might have to go and check it out myself! I like how you styled it too.

I'm not a skilled pattern mixer, so I'll leave your last question to the pros on the forum who are so adept at it.

yellowgirl- thank you so much for the compliment about my hair and I agree with you about the 2nd shirt in the 2nd set of pics I tried that same shirt tucked in but it just looked odd that way.

Deborah- Thank you the whole jacket is lace the facing included I know that it is hard sometimes in photos to really see the details especially with me taking the pic's myself.

I _really_ like the lace top AND _the pattern mixing on the second series of pics_ (No 1 and 3 esp.)! That polka dot skirt, what a great find! It looks really "cool", and looks like you can get many different looks out of it depending on what you wear it with.

You look so good! Love your hair down like this too.

What I like less: the blue dress (maybe needs to be accessorized?) and the baby blue top on pic 2 of second serie (eats you up... and color too dull). BUT the shoes in that pic! Such coolness.

I too like the pattern mixing in pic 1. The blue in #3 is gorgeous and works really well with the skirt. The second top is a bit too long and flowy I think.

I'm still not sold on the lace jacket.

I love the polka dot skirt and the first outfit you posted at home with it belted. I think the lace jacket is cool but I would struggle with styling it - am interested to see if you come up with any solutions. I am thinking it needs to be over a tank or cami - short sleeves will look odd with show-through. Or a fit and flare dress?

Love the striped cardigan and polka dot skirt pattern mix. This works for me because both patterns have the same colors in them. That striped cardigan is super fab!

Great shopping trip, you got some fabulous pieces.

I think if the lace jacket problem the ladies brought up doesn't bother you then just get on with it. If it does bother you how about getting the jacket lined? Would that solve the problem?

Great haul! The blue dress I have no strong feelings about; it could be a great backdrop for more dynamic accessories. The dotty skirt, lace jacket (also my fave of the lot), and the striped cardigan are all great. In your 2nd set of photos, I like #1 and #3 a lot; the top in #2 is too voluminous for this skirt, but would look fantastic with skinnies or possibly even a pencil skirt.
