Keep or return?, ETA: WIW, 12/3

I like the miniskirt+tights+boots look in theory, so I decided to buy this skirt from Esprit. I haven't really styled it properly in this picture, though I'm envisioning gray opaque (but not ribbed sweater tights like I have in this picture) tights and my cognac boots. But I'm a bit undecided on the skirt...I'm on team flared and I think I'd like a tiny tiny bit more flare to this skirt than this one has, though it's not too tight. Sizing up would make it too big around the waist. What do you all think?

ETA: I've decided to keep the skirt, and am wearing it right now. Here's my ouftit:

sweater: Benetton
scarf: NY&C
skirt: Esprit
tights: Gap
boots: Bandolino

I have no issue with the straightness or length but is it too tight in your hips?

Melllls, it doesn't feel too tight, but that's an issue i have with straight skirts: creasing in the thighs.

I don't know how that pink will look with cognac boots - it looks way more pink than in the stock photo. Is it tight on the hips? I don't mind the shortness as much - you're young and a student. If there's ever a time when it is appropriate, it would be now!

shana, the stock photo is pretty accurate. The yellow tint of the photo I took makes the skirt look pinker.

It's snug for sure, not in a constricting way, but I think it would *look* better with even a half inch more of room.

I love it! It'll stretch out enough, I'm sure, to give you that extra inch you want. As for styling, I think it would look awesome with more volume on top. Perhaps a big, soft slouchy sweater?

thanks guys! just to clarify, the first picture is not an outfit, it's the picture I took when I was trying the skirt on for the first time. The second picture is my outfit from yesterday.

LeahJanes: I'm wearing it pretty far from my face here, so that would probably help you as well?

Do people think combining black/grey is OK? I tried black leggings but that looked too heavy.

I really like the colors used with the skirt in the stock picture...soft grey. It also looks great the way you are wearing it. Black seems too heavy, although maybe grey tights with black boots would work since your hair is very dark. You could go with soft browns.

I like the way you have styled it in the 2nd photo. If you are a student it is perfect for your lifestyle. I think with the tights etc the shortness is not an issue.

Angie: that's interesting that you mention the grey as bookending my hair. I tried this outfit with black leggings and it seemed way too stark with too much black.
